Hi everyone. I've seen this question posted before, but I have tried all of the suggestions so far and yet I cannot get my sitemap to preview. I also used VSD to design my website. Can anyone please tell me how to add the sitemap files to my VSD software (what do I need to do exactly) to at least try the sitemap there. I've spent a lot of time on this with nothing to show for it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hiya Holly,

Can you give more information on exactly what you have been trying, locations of the files and have you uploaded the files? If you have uploaded them can you give a link please to the site please?

I haven't tried the site mapper in a while, but I never had any problems seeing it in any browser, and I think CC even has it running on their site if you check the Sitemap link in the menu down at the bottom of the page in the footer so it definitely works.

Most likely it's user error and maybe not having the files saved in the right area or uploaded to the right area. More information would be helpful since everyone does things a little differently.

P.S. I removed the other post in the other thread since this is basically the same post and will get you results either way.

Thanks Jo Ann. I'll be the first to admit that I think this very well could be my error. I uploaded them to my public hostgator file and i can view them on my computer, but mozilla and IE shows similar error results that it can't find the file. although i have uploaded them, the files have not been added to my site www.Seed-Favors.com (i even tried creating a page on there, as i was uncertain if that needed to be done) but the actual sitemap is not live as of yet so i don't have a link, per se. I hope this makes sense.
Is it possible to PM you?

Hiya Holly,

I am able to see the sitemap.xml file which is the file that you want to be sure to go to google and submit so it will detect and read it so it gets listed. I am unsure at this point if you have the rest of the files uploaded to a different directory maybe, which is what I'm thinking is happening. I don't use VSD so someone else will need to come in and let you know how it's added to a page for using it on your site, but the sitemap file that the search engines need is live and ready to go. Hopefully one of the VSD users will come help you get the rest up and running soon. You're half there though so hang in there :)

Jo Ann! Thank you so very much!
Can you tell me how you are seeing it?
Do I add the sitemap.xml extension to the seed-favors name? I would love to see it!
I assume then that I can go to the "Submit" feature for Google now, even though I cannot personally view it. Is this correct?

Sorry for all of the questions. This is obviously not my forte, LOL.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks Eric. I just went to the site and I'm seeing all code. Is that what it is supposed to look like? I was going to link it to the website.

That's what you submit to Google and other search engines. You need to paste the html code the site mapper makes into another page or upload the the sitemap.html to your website and link to it.:)
