Hi,

I've been using CC software for over a year and am just starting to learn about SEO. I understand sitemaps are important so I've just purchase CC sitemapper. I've created a sitemap for my site: www.gatewayelectricinc.com and have put the files onto the server using my ftp program. When submitting to google it asks me for the URL. I assume it's http://www.gatewayelectricinc.com/sitemap.xml. When I go to that URL however I get something that to me does not look like a sitemap. Am I missing something here? Thanks for your help in advance.

The sitemap.xml is the file that directs the search bots where to go. The sitemap.html is the pretty version for human viewing.

Ahhh. I see that now. Thanks Spinny. Google has now accepted my sitemap. Should I be concerned that I have 5 URLS and 0 were indexed?

No, I have over 20 URLs in one of my sitemaps and it took months for the number indexed to go over 8. They do it at their own pace.

When I run a sitemap generator against my site (sportvideoshop.com), I get a warning that the home page is already listed.

http://www.sportvideoshop.com/ Sport Video Shop Home
http://www.sportvideoshop.com/index.html (already listed) - Sport Video Shop Home
http://www.sportvideoshop.com/Pricing.html Pricing
http://www.sportvideoshop.com/Example.html Examples
http://www.sportvideoshop.com/Contact_Us.html Contact Us
http://www.sportvideoshop.com/FAQ.html FAQs
http://www.sportvideoshop.com/Sitemap.html Sitemap

Page http://www.sportvideoshop.com/index.html default page already listed
Is this a problem for the site? If so, how isdo I fix it?
