What type of information did the site mapper miss?

What are your settings in the site mapper program?

Did you upload the results to your site? If so, may we have a direct link to that file?

Also, you may want to click on profile and change your forum name to something other than your email address. No need to make things easy for spammers.

Does a small site with a handfull of pages really need a site map?

I got an error message stating:

Unable to execute file
There is no application associated with the given filename extention.

So I cannot submit to google.

Also the files selected were the following:

http://www.medellininvestments.com/chat.html
Realtors
Affiliates
Investors
Medellin Investments

It doesn't even point to the most important page, Sell Your Home

Again my site is www.medellininvesments.com

Tom, I keep adding to my website and I don't know if google sitemapper will make my website more visible or not. To be honest, I have no idea what makes a website more visible, all I know is that the only thing that makes my website pop up when i type in a keyword is medellin investments or the web address.

Any suggestions on what will make my site more visible is greatly appreciated.

I just checked, and it seems you have several pages with %20 (HTML for space) in the file names. That can cause problems, and all of those files were not listed by the site mapper. Try renaming those pages (and change the links) so that they do not have the spaces in their names. One character that is frequently used in cases like this is the underscore _ that on US keyboards is found just to the right of the zero key.

Hope this helps.

I will give it a try. Would this also be the problem for Google Sitemapper giving me the error message?

Meta tags for search engines go between the <head> and </head> tags. Modify for your use.

<meta name="title" content="My Site">
<meta name="subject" content="My Site">
<meta name="category" content="My Site">
<meta name="description" content="My Site">
<meta name="classification" content="My Site">
<meta name="keywords" content="My, Site, Use, Commas">
<meta name="key phrase" content="My Site, Use Commas">
<meta name="author" content="Me">
<meta name="distribution" content="global">
<meta name="resource-type" content="document">
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow">
<meta name="rating" content="general">

Thanks Tom, do you have a website that I can view the page source as a guide to this code?

Sergio,

You can see some meta tags on the website in my signature. Probably not the best examples, but that should give you an idea where and how to use the meta tags. Then look at the list Tom provided and add what you need to your site.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
