Why some pics do not display Alt text?

On my site which is linked to on my signature at the bottom of my posts. On all pgs I have two images at the top, the home pg and many of the topic pages. The alternate text is not working on those pgs. I have some components on some of the pgs, gallery pgs and job examples that were Inger provided components and the alt text works on those on all examples on the site. Does the container immediately containing the pics have to be a wrapper container. Could some people look at my view page source and see if they can tell why the alt text is not working? Thank you. It is also working on all of the links and email button and phone button, just not on those pair of images at the top and the trademark image in the same containers does not give of alt text either.

Just looked at the index page. The two houses have the alt text 'Placeholder picture'. Maybe not the most meaningful alt text I've seen.
The logo thingie in the middle has a whole paragraph as the alt text. That is waayy too much, Alt texts are supposed to be short.

Placeholder picture is default for SD.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yes, I know. But when I add an image to a website, I usually want to change that to something more relevant.

I suspect that the main thing is to remember the reason for the img <alt> attribute, particularly regarding those who use screen readers. These two pages seem helpful:

I am sorry that I have not communicated my inquiry successfully, yes on the source code of the index pg the alt text entries are not very good and need to be changed. That is not the problem that I am addressing. The problem that I am addressing is: when mousing over the images on the components that are working you get a window open up of the alt text for reading. The ones that I have asked about when mousing over do not put up the visual window of the alt text when moused over. When mousing over any link or phone # or email address link you get the alternate text window appear with a mouse over. The pics that I am complaining of when mousing over the alt text does not appear in the window with mouse over. The place holder alt text ought to appear in the window that opens with mouse over. After getting it to work as in displaying alt text then I will work on making it better as to what is in the alt text. There are many alt text that do display correctly that also need to be edited.

When I am getting the display of the alt text window is when there is a hand mouse icon indicating executable active link, When not getting the display of alt text with mouse over the mouse is an arrow, perhaps is not supposed to display alt text then. Is this the case?

The confusion is, I suspect, caused by the heading of this thread.

What displays on hover is not the Alt text, but the Title text. The Title text just happens to be the same words as the Alt text on the website in question.

The facility for entering the Title text in SD 5 seems to be available only for picture links - not for plain pictures.

Further to my post above, the Title items are effectively tooltips. I create my own tooltips, which I can style as I please, as shown in the attached file.

Why some pics do not display Alt text? They abbreviate the headings that can lend to confusion. Personally I believe that the confusion is fostered by the complete lack of knowing what to expect with the alt text altogether. The same site built with VSD all images had alt text that was displayed on mouse over and was stressed for importance in the SEO scheme. I viewed the CC sales pg on the super pack and scrolling down to the app listings with images of the apps you got no display upon mouse over of the images of the alt text. So, my expecting to see the display of the alt text as it occurred in the past is my error, does not work that way any longer and I have been trying to fix something that is not malfunctioning. Then can not get anyone to understand what I am talking about and confirm that yes, you do not get mouse over display of window of the alt text with images any longer as you used to get back in the day of VSD or even earlier versions of SD and RSD. Evidently if I make the images image links to themselves, then alt text that opens visually in window upon mouse over will then appear on the smaller images in question. Or I could just make the existing alt text to be better as was first suggested by my fellow forum comrades. All of this probably has to do with the differences now with the responsive and small device screens vs the hd and full hd of the desktop. Perhaps some day soon they will invent a phone that projects the image of the screen shot to a wall and it can be silver screen size monster images from your phone ha ha.
