VSD vs RSD & RCS
Hi, I have an existing web site that was constructed using VSD some time ago. I wanted to update this site to bring in more features and bring it into 2016. I purchased RSD & RCS, not sure I should have purchased both??? If I use RSD is there a was I can use some of my existing VSD code etc? Can it be exported into RSD? I am very confused at this time as to whether I have purchased the right software or not. My objective is to update existing website. Can anyone advise me? Thanks, Jackie
Hi from Sunny Bali
Not sure that you can export stuff from VSD into RSD, I seem to remember seeing previous questions regarding this but cannot find then on the forum. Perhaps someone else has more idea about that.
I think you are stuck with starting afresh, but that's not so daunting, once you get into RSD and using the Grid rows/columns/element principle it makes producing a responsive web-site a cinch. And that flexbox thingy is really amazing at keeping things where you want them to be.
Good luck

Was your site created with media queries for responsive design also that one site can be viewed on a desktop and viewed easily on a mobile phone?
RSD is structured that it can not import non-RSD sites. That is because Coffeecup has its own "framework" and style sheets for the layout of a website. The framework is designed in stylesheets. Responsive design usually involves a grid design composed of rows and columns and the elements you place in the columns. The framework is needed so that the application can apply a grid system easily. For instance, if you was a column to span width to be 12 of the 16 spans, special - and complicated CSS styles are used to define that column. It may seem easy, but when you want to change it - the application can use the framework to exchange the css styles for the column. There is an array other things in the framework, not just columns. The framework lets RSD to enable to you quickly change the layout without handcoding. You might have to be clever in the way you situation a column, but the code and methodology will be consistent.
If you have particular code, RSD has an element where you can insert your own html. Its common for users to insert html from CC menu builder and the content slider application. Other users may have their own javascript or jquery routines, and there is a way to insert code to call up the jquery.
