It looks they the guy is using "RSD v3" but looked at the top of the screen, the label is "CSS Grid Builder"...

I understand why it could be confusing. Here's what you need to know to clear it up. The controls for CSS Grid Builder and in RSDv3 (now called "SD3") are virtually the same. Therefore, if you watch a tutorial for CSS Grid Builder, you can do the same thing in SD3.

I guess I just really wanted to make sure that I would still be able to open existing v2.5 bootstrap / foundation sites and continue to make edits and export them without any issues.

The short answer is yes, but you will need to convert the layout of your site to CSS Grid. Let me explain:

Foundation and Bootstraps are frameworks that work on a "rows and columns" layout. CSS Grid deals only with layout. Therefore, in SD3, you set up your layout with CSS Grid and then use all the framework functions from Foundation or Bootstrap.

You can keep both RSD2.5 and SD3 installed on your computer at the same time. Being a web developer, I have created many sites in 2.5 for clients. For now, I am using 2.5 to edit their sites. Once they have me convert their site to CSS Grid, I'll edit their sites in SD3.

HOW TO TRANSITION FROM RSDv2.5 TO SD3
Here is what I am doing...
1. Make a copy or your project file and play with it in SD3 to learn grid and to covert your site. (You won't have to recreate it.)
2. In the meantime, until you are satisfied with it in SD3, you can make the edits in 2.5 for your live site.
3. Once you have your site fully converted to grid, you can make that version live and edit in SD3 from then on.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

You don't have to convert your layout to CSS Grid in SD3. That is a inaccurate statement.

You can still use the .row and .col found in the Layout classes. Works just like it always did.

I do understand the recommendation to convert to CSS Grid however we should be providing all the options available when importing or designing a new site.
Bootstrap 5 CSS Grid.
