Hey everyone,

Been gone awhile but am back building a site with RSD. Miss the ease of VSD but getting there. Anyway, I'm confused about the process to publish the site. The domain is hosted on 1and1.com so I can't use the "publish" feature, right? So, if I'm exporting it and uploading via FTP, what do I put in for the username & password? I called 1and1.com and they said that that information comes from what I set up in the program. (I remember this vaguely from VDS but not seeing how this works with RSD.)

Help! I'm confused!

If your not using S-Drive then as you found out you need to use an external ftp client to upload your site to the host.
If you forgot your username and password for your 1and1 account there should be a reset available on their site.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Here's the thing, the client had a website built and pointed elsewhere. I'm doing a new website for her and will be uploading it to the home hosting site at 1and1. If the site is pointed somewhere else, doesn't it make sense that whatever username/password that is set up with that site doesn't come into play here? 1and1 told me that they don't have a usernam password they can access for the site. WTH!?

If 1and1 is claiming they do not have the login credentials, then they are probably not the site hosting provider. The username/password combination are generated by the company who puts the website online (host the files). Maybe the domain name was purchased from them, but the host is someone else. I would recommend you contact your client and ask them where the domain was purchased and to what servers is it pointing to. That will help you narrow down who to contact for the credentials.
