Long time user here, just wondering if anyone has experienced the following with their RSD project. I recently opened a rather large client file (31MB) with around 27 pages, and found every time I started to edit I would get a duplicate class warning followed by the SD whiteout. Tried this on 4 different PCs/Macs so OS not the issue.
The support team have the file and hopefully working on it but have just noticed that all symbols are missing from the project (27 instances) and 2 components. I'm thinking the duplicate class warning is generated when SD tries to write to the other symbol elements in the project, which somehow are missing?
6 previous backups have the same problem strangely but 1 very old version does not (Feb 2025).
Subsequent projects have not had any issue but sods law it's one of my bigger files/clients with the issue.

I have never had any issues like the one you mentioned. Since I haven't seen your project, it's hard to make any assumptions or speculations about why this happens.
Just some questions:
How is your computer equipped CPU and RAM-wise?
What other applications are open while you are editing in SD?
Which version/build of SD are you using?
What exactly do the duplicate class warnings say? (Duplicate classes are normally OK, but duplicate IDs are not.)
Does the issue only happen if you try editing the file, not when you just open it?
Is the part you are editing inside a symbol? (If the edit is comprehensive, or the symbol itself is, your computer may be struggling with keeping around 27 instances updated simultaneously. The whiteout might be indicating that.)

Latest version of SD 5.1 3626, used on Mac mini M4 16GB RAM or Windows PCs with i5/i7 CPUs, they can cope with all Adobe products including Prem Pro projects/renders so don't think the hardware is the issue. No other applications open other than background services. Warning screenshot attached. Happens when trying to add a class to any element which is part of a symbol area and all symbols have been stripped from the project.
Can send you the file privately if you think you might be able to sort?

Hello Inger, no email has come to me as yet?
I used to get the white-out on occasions, (sometimes most often when using "Preview, or device view, I do realise that your experience with this is different, but my solution when this happens is to "Check Compatability"
There are 2 ways to do this,
1/ right click on the Site Designer icon thingy (mine is on my desktop) and choose check compatability" from the menu
2/ open "C"drive
open Program Files folder
open CoffeeCupSoftware folder
open Site Designer file
scroll down to theSite Designer "Application File"
Right click - then select "More Options"
select "Check Compatability."
When the widow opens "Agree to have Microsoft run the diagnostics
scroll down the apps list until you see "Site Designer"
Select "None Of The Above" from the choices
select YES to have it apply the "Compatability" settings
when finished
It will ask if this fixed the problem
I always simply say Yes
I understand that this maybe something that shouldnt have to be done, but to be honest I don't really care as to the why and wherefores, I just do it, because for my white out issues, it always works, takes about 30 second of my time,
If it starts happening again after a windows update installation I simply re-do it.
I don't use Apple stuff so not sure what if anything similat is available on that
.
As to the synbols etc, never had that happen.

This forum has a mail system that some of us are allowed to use, and so far it has always worked for me. Have you checked your spam folder or bin for my email? I have now sent a second email. Thanks Wayan, as you say, whatever works, so thanks for the suggestion and I'll give it a go, still at a loss to explain where all my symbols have gone from the project though, makes me think something is being hidden rather than them being removed.

You don't have such an access. Only those who are 'labelled' as a 'Senior Advisor'. That means that I'm not a member of the CC staff, only that I've been here for a while (22 years to be exact).
