Site Designer progressively slows to...

This problem is still apparent, even in the current (Version 5.0 Build 3536). I'm using Win11, but it was also apparent on Win10.

Using it for about an hour gets so slow that I have to kill it and restart it to continue. This gets annoying during the day as I have to do it a dozen times or more during development.

Seems to do it even without activity. I leave the design up overnight and come back in the morning to an almost unresponsive program.

This problem has been apparent for a long time now. Any chance of it being solved?

What is the point of leaving the computer on overnight when you are asleep? If I leave mine on, it is always a bit lazy in the morning, regardless of SD.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Hi Again
Well here is something I have been trying out for about a week now, (not really about your issue, but some different ones I have been experiencing, although I do experience slowing down to a crawl, and also almost stopping on the larger projects, which have a large number of various components installed (reveal for 1 example ))

I moved ALL of the CC Apps I use, and others, that I could (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, screen recorder, etc, to my 'D' drive, which still has over 300 GB free ) all of the Site Designer project files i work on ( more than 475 of them) , WFB builder files, RED files were already stored on that drive.

So basically the C drive now has only the necessary Windows (11) files and browsers (Firefox, Edge, Google Chrome, Brave Browser, Vivaldi, (various search engine choices set).

So after around a week I would estimate that the performance issues I was experiencing before, have all but gone,

Anyway as a lot of CC user know I normally work long hours16 - 18 hours per day is quite normal and have SD going for most of my working day, sometimes even 2 or 3 projects open at the same time.

Yesterday I was a little bit under the weather, so I stopped earlier than normal, however having read your post, I decided to give what you claim to, do a try, so I left the PC on (although I am with Inger on WHY anyone would leave a project file open when there is no need to is beyond my comprehension.

It's now 3:00 am here and I have been up and at it for an hour now (after a good full 8 hours sleep)
The project file I left open is working and behaving beautifully, not only is there no slowing down, but also some of the other issues I had are not happening (although once again this has been so since I moved those files etc to the new "D" drive,

I have reported my findings to CC team (as part of an ongoing investigation) so hopefully it gives then something for them to look into with the possibility of being able to identify something,

There is also one other thing which you could mention which might have a bearing, What type of processor are you using (Intel, AMD etc)

Thats it foe a while
Take care all stay safe & warm wherever in the world you are

I have a dozen or more computers that run 24/7, performing all kinds of tasks. The only application that slows itself down on this workstation is Site Designer. All other applications are fine.

The number of pages seems irrelevant. It can happen with a 10 page project or a 100 page project. No components, usually frameworkless. This workstation PC is an i9-11th gen, 64GB RAM, 3x4T SSD, with plenty of space left on each. Win 11 Pro, GB networking, RTX2060 video. It's happened on this machine and older machines as well. It's an internal bug within Site Designer.

I'm guessing you do not have automated backups operating then. All the workstations and systems back up to multiple NAS devices throughout the night automatically. Since I am a software developer I often have large projects and multiple windows open over multiple displays all the time, which is a nuisance to have to restore the next morning. I leave CC SD open just like I would with any other IDE when I am working on a project. It is the only application that grinds itself to a halt (and there is no change in CPU or I/O stats, so the bug is internal to SD).

Processor is i9-11th gen. Plenty of memory and threads, and plenty of SSD space over multiple SSDs (I have 3 x 4T drives). When SD is crawling the machine stats are not the problem, they are operating normally, as is everything else running on that machine. SD is the only culprit and the bug is internal to its operation. It starts to feel like a sluggish Java IDE after a while...

FYI, this morning it's very slow again, after being left open overnight for the last 6 hours with no activity.
Here's a screenshot of SD task info right now. Virtually no resources being used.

Nope I don't as in no reason to if I save the project file I am working on, and I also have the 'auto save project file set to 5 mins, which means that even if we lose electric here (which happens quite a lot especially during heavey tropical rainstorms, I only lose 5 minutes work at most, and I always save a project regardless after a big change in styling/layout etc
