Have to say that as an avid fan of 1.5 I have been awaiting eagerly v2.
I prefer working desktop down and to find that this isn't baked in as part of v2 is hugely disappointing.
I get that you can create a blank file in v1.5 and open that every time in 2.0 but it would have been nice to have had it as native functionality.
Will have to have a play with it to see if it is worth my while making the move fully from 1.5 to 2.0 but at this stage I am disappointed.

Good day all,
I have just purchased the V2 beta after a few minutes assessing the trial version .... thought I had to as the offer was too good to miss!
First impressions? Pretty good.
I have to say that I am really impressed by the new functionality - I especially like the new 'Filters & Blend Mode' section, and the options for sizing and positioning elements.
However I still have trouble with the mobile first regime, but that is mostly because I keep forgetting to set global attributes in the mobile setting first; I am hoping that as I get more used to it I will remember.
Like Jamie I think it would be nice to have had the desktop down option as well, but I can live with it.
As for the integration of Foundation .... well, my head aches after a while of trying to understand how these bits and bobs work. I need a trusty young assistant to help me work these things out (just like I had to help my parents set the recording timer on their video cassette recorder years ago - I know, my age is showing).
I was a bit disappointed to find that there were no components to hand when opening a new blank Bootstrap or Foundation project (not a themed project), only the option to download from the library.
Anyway apart from that, I think it all looks promising so far.
Have a great day, wherever you are.
David

You can still do this Jamie with Foundation or Bootstrap. After starting a new project in either of those, click the Modes Toolbar icon. Here you can disable breakpoints and set your styles.
Also remember, that any project created with Coffeegrinder still works. You could even take any project you have already created and delete all content and save that as a theme to give you a blank new project based on Coffeegrinder.
So you do have options! )

Thanks for the reply Scott and yes, I do understand that we have options and as I said I appreciate you can create a blank 1.5 file and open it up so that you can benefit from the other stuff.
Was just hoping for 'native' desktop down (cant stand the mobile first approach personally) - I bought FF and BB and had a play with them for a weekend but couldnt get on with them at all.
Having had a play around with 2.0 this morning, you have baked in an amazing amount of functionality that you have done initially in FF and BB and that is fantastic.

There are quite a few Components to choose from for Bootstrap3, Bootstrap4 and Foundation. These are found by clicking the Components Toolbar Icon and not the Components Tab under Content. From the Components you can add one of these to your project and then they will appear in the Components Tab under Content.
Bootstrap 3

Bootstrap 4

Foundation

So THAT is what those Modes are for? I never thought of that...

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the quick reply. I hope 'disappointed' was not too strong, perhaps bemused, or more likely confused.
With regard to components, I did do what you said before my last message. However, when I click on the components icon at the top of my screen the components dialogue box opens up but is empty.
I have tried several times with Foundation and Bootstrap themes, and blank projects, just in case I was doing it wrong ..... but still have to go to File > Import Library Component > Component > ..... etc, etc.
From then on I can add components to my hearts content !!
So, not a big deal overall, but wondered if it is supposed to be like that .... or am I being a complete dummy (not for the first, or last, time most likely).
Anyway, having fun (yes, I do find using CC applications fun) finding out what I can do with all the functions.
Regards,
David

That sounds like a bad installation. Do this, uninstall all versions of the software and then re-install just version 2.0 and see if that fixes the issue. There should be a very good selection of them.
If that does not help, open a support ticket and I have a few things we can try and see if we can get you fixed up. Probably something simple.

Hey guys,
I was getting ready to upgrade to v2 but a bit nervous about upward compatibility. Saw a couple of mentions in the forums but wanted to know if everyone is experiencing success with opening 1.5 projects in 2, are you able to work just as effective with the older files etc.
Thanks,
Byron
