RSD - Questions about how to manage...

Hello Again:

I've been using RSD now for a few days and I really am developing an affinity for it. It's very powerful.

But I have a few questions. If any of my questions can be solved by reviewing another forum thread, example site, or a tutorial that I may not have seen yet, please feel free to direct me to that and I'll go do my homework.

Topic 1: Managing files and "libraries" (my terminology) on my site.

My site will have several pages that will have links to:
  • PDF files (legal documents, newsletters, etc)
  • Image files (photo galleries, screen grabs of maps, etc)
  • Calendar files (for importing a calendar entry into the user's Outlook or smartphone/tablet calendar app)
  • Other data files not necessarily "part of" the website itself.

Under VSD, I kept all such files in my site's root\files\downloads\ folder.
How should I do this with RSD?
Are there any good examples available showing various site library management techniques in RSD?
I know that photo galleries are "a thing", and while I'm not ready yet to build any of those, eventually I'd like to do so. Not sure if I'll want to do a "slider" type of slide show; it looks like fun.

Which of the RSD examples do you especially like and/or would suggest for presenting files to the end-user?

Topic 2: How to manage all of this in RSD so that preview works correctly?

With VSD, proper previewing did not work correctly. Page links would not find the file objects as noted above, but only preview seemed to be broken. Once I published the site, and put the "files" into the correct folders on my site's server, then all the links would magically work. This workflow was workable, but clumsy. Is there anything special that I need to do in RSD to make sure that previewing works the same way as the published site?

Topic 3: How can I create a "template" (CSS?) of my main page so that I don't have to recreate it for each new site page?

Okay, so at this time, I have a main page and 2 or 3 other pages already created, but I fear I'm going down the "duplicate objects" road that I went down with VSD, so now is the time to fix this.

Portions of each physical page on my site will have common information (copyright notice, main site title, menu at the top of each page, link to go to the home page, etc). What do I need to do to make these common elements always show up in each new page without physically duplicating those elements in RSD or on my server? None of this stuff takes up a lot of space, but still...there's nothing more annoying to me than having nine different copies of my copyright notice being stored on my server.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on any of these topics!

Well, I found a tutorial, "creating links with RSD", so I may be able to answer my first two questions. Reviewing it now.

But even so, advice is welcome; especially if there are any good methods or tricks that build on the basics or take it a step farther for better organization.
