Another one to consider is: CMS Made Simple
cmsmadesimple.org
Especially the 2.o+ version.
Free. No paid versions. Been around for a while. Community supported. Very active support forum. Complete. Fairly easy to set up the templates.

Here's another great free CMS, Instant Update.
http://www.instant-update.com/
They did away with tinymce editor in favor of Ckeditor so it handles editing of PHP pages as well as html
Requirements:
PHP 5.2+
multibyte support within PHP
GD library for PHP
MySQL 4.1+
At least 128 MB of RAM on your server (higher resolution images = higher RAM)
cURL library for PHP (optional but highly recommended)
Apache web server with mod_rewrite and mod_env support (optional)

I developed PHP Autodealer software http://bicdevelopment.com and used this to allow software clients ability to update specific text etc on their sites. such as change hours, update About Us page, add/change new employees etc.

I haven't purchased CC RSD yet. I'm trying to figure if it could be used to create a new software template page that is Responsive. From what I see so far by reading 'Share your websites' posts, it is only good for static html pages and not for data base driven PHP sites. I hope I'm wrong.

Hey Don

All the sites that we develop are dynamic in nature - from news and blogs to full ecommerce. And all the front end is in the main built using RSD - it's a lifesaver and saves and IMMENSE amount of time. For me the visual break points within the app are just superb

Thanks Jamie!

I just downloaded the 21 day V of RSD to play with it. As for converting my PHP Autodealer software to responsive, I've been working on it. I purchased an AutoDealer responsive template from ThemeMakers and have been modifying it to pull in data from my script. I'm doing this 'In House' using my WAMP server. I really don't care for the template is why I'd like to construct my own w/RSD. Once I get RSD working and understand all the features, plan is to create multiple templates to include with the software.

I also host and have designed other sites for clients, some of which are regular html fixed width, that I'd like to be able to offer update to convert to Responsive design. CC RSD seems to be the 'Cat's Ass' for doing this.

Post me a link to one of your E-Commerce sites.

You're welcome Don

The best way to find your way around RSD is to play with it - as with any bit of software, it has its idiosyncracies and minor 'issues' - if you are struggling with an aspect of the system then dont be shy in asking on the forum as there are a lot of knowledgable people out there who are always happy to help out!

A couple of ecom sites that are live: http://goo.gl/KZ83zM and http://goo.gl/fL12Ee
Couple in development: http://goo.gl/K2996L and http://goo.gl/CvzHGo

All the best

Hello All,
Sorry to resurrect and old thread...but I have a question for those who use Surreal CMS.

I think one must add the code after export...so...does that mean every time you change the RSD site and export, you have to re-add your surreal CMS snippets?...Or, is there a quick workaround for that issue?

Also...since this thread is old...to those that used Surreal CMS are you still using it, or have you found something you like better? I have done the free trial and like it fine, but wondering if there is something better/easier?

Looking forward to some great advice as always. :)
