I have only had the software for a short time, and feel it is a very good product, as you know. I have read over all the training information and have tried to work with you sample sites.

At this point, my largest problem is I am not able to figure out how elements layer and where to change the layer of an element.

My second problem is I am not able to "unlink" elements so when I move something, more than one element is moving. When I insert an element (picture) it is attached to several other rows, etc.

My last item is I open new folders in the Resources area that have images and load the images into the folder. When I go to load the image on a page and go to Resources, the file is not there.

I do know that all of the above has nothing to do with the software, and it is my lack of knowledge with the new product, but still I need the boost to get moving in the right direction.

Thank you,
Jack

I appears that you are coming from some hand coding? Specifically, in CSS, layers are formulated in elements that are given a z-index. That can be found in the Position section of the Design Tab/Pane/Module of the Control panel.

For the second part, can you be more specific? RSD and most of the RWD on the web are using a grid system, composed of rows and columns. Initially, the columns are designed to float left. So, if you click and drag an element you placed, you will disrupt the flow of the columns, unless you are doing something like moving a paragraph from one column into another column. Make sure you use the zoom controls on the left and are at 100%. When you mouse over an element, that element name appears on the upper left of that element. Is it a drop down composing of its parent elements, and then you can select one. Sometimes, if you are trying to move something or rearrange them, you just have to go to the Inspector Pane/tab/module of the control panel, and click drag an element to its proper place.

Could you be more specific about the third question? Are you trying to place an image that has already been put into your Resources? If so, are you properly linking it? You need to add a picture element, then in the control panel, go to the design pane, then at the top in the Element section click the drop down beside Picture, and select local image, that will automatically open up your resources, then you pick an image.

I highly suggest you invest the time into reading the introductory articles CC has made, even if you used to hand code before, because the RWD methodology is different. You need to develop a foundation of how columns work within rows, and how columns can work within the grid system of spans. At the core, one would not be using layers/z-index, unless they are getting very specific with designs and effects and pixel placement. I used to handcode, and its something to get used to, and the methodology is certainly different using the grid system. You won't have a full appreciation until you go through the articles and demos/examples and try to recreate them on your own.
