Not sure what any of that meant :lol:. Just trying to see how to either make the front page photos play a wav when you click within the same page, and to have one video player with a drop down menu to play small clips under the Trilogy of TerrorVision page :lol:.

TrilogyofTerror.com

That or how to duplicate my present VSD site to look the same and do that using my SD v.2.5 or if upgrading to 5 will do it.

Thanks always :) .

Hello again
From what I understand the likes of Google Firefox and some of the other big boys in the browser game, are not keen on audio or video playing automatically anymore, except for users that have chosen autoplay, or have visited before and listened / watched etc. I know what you are going to say about by clicking an image they are agreeing to listen to audio, but as a suggestion and only a suggestion I would be inclined to have a proper button alongside the image or a button on its own that clearly states something like "play audio / video clip" that is a definite action that they have to do and falls into the browsers / users expectations and gives them a choice to which Google or the others cannot penalise.

On another note I have a video example demonstration of how the site could be made to look and perform for best practices in the new way of doing things it is however done in site designer not vsd. It is only something to show what can be achieved.
Should STEFKIE not come up with anything else for you to consider let me know if you would be interested in seeing something that might inspire.

As I originally stated, I bought the above program as well Eric. I also mentioned I haven't learned or understood how to use it yet.

For now, I am just trying to do the two things to my original site which is why I asked here.

Thanks for the response though, much appreciated :) .

Thanks for responding Wayan, I really appreciate you taking the time. I definatly had/have click a pic so each person has the choice to hear the little snippet form the scene. As I stated in my initial posty, it used to work via VSD and FLash but as that is no longer supported I am trying to find another way to do the same thing within VSD, until I learn how to use the new SD 2.5 I bought a while ago. Same thing for the little video player that used to work.

I definitely would love to see a video example demonstration of how the site could be made to look and perform for best practices in the new way of doing things done in site designer. I do have to learn it also.

Thanks again :) .

Yes I know you have an image(s) that if clicked plays audio the point is that it doesn't give the person clicking it an indication of what is going to happen, Google are beginning to suggest that one must give an indication as to that by clicking something it's going to play an audio file, this then also gives your visitor the chance to turn on the sound on their browser if they have it turned off like what I have. Nothing much worse than clicking something not knowing what's going to happen then clicking play and then no sound because maybe forgotten that it is turned off (some browsers even have sound turned of by default)

Hello again
I shall be putting up the demo video today, I need to add a little bit of voice over to explain what's going on and the why's & therefore etc, It's still very early here so I can't do that until the family are up and around,

There is a solution that Eric made, which I also understand that you cannot see it because you have SD 2.5 and therefore cannot open the file he sent with the example

However,
The code and stuff can be done within the HTML (I think but as I don't have VSD it would need a bit of messing about, but I think possible)

I also have another temporary solution which may get you through the current situation and make your existing site work & look better on mobile devices, I cannot give you this suggestion on this post as it would probably break the rules guidelines for posts on this forum.

A good solution for your consideration

1/ Let's see if we can get your existing pages working with the sound as you require

2/ If once that works, we see if we can get yous existing site working as an app for mobile devices.
(that way your site can be viewed on all devices as if it was just one.)

This then will give you time to then renovate the existing site with Site Designer, which is possible using your version 2.5, but would be better using the latest version 5, that, of course, depends on your budget and if you think the investment is worth it for your immediate and future requirements.

Either way, using site designer whichever version is quite a steep learning curve and requires quite a while to learn (hence the possible temporary solution)

I really think that should you wish to move on, then you need to contact me because I don't think it is appropriate for me to place the suggestions for turning your existing site into an APP for mobile devices on this post, as it possibly would violate some of the regulations for posting things on this forum
my email is shown in my profile (click the image thingy) or you can contact me using the form on my website (which is a temporary one but has a contact form

Place an html element in your page and paste this code into it. Adjust the src to your file name and location.
<audio id="wav-1"><source src="/wav-files/048 Bigtop Circus.mid-compiled.wav" type="audio/wav"></audio>

Add this code to the footer of your page.
Adjust
<script>
window.onload = function () {
document.getElementById("photo-1").onclick = function(){
document.getElementById("wav-1").play();
}
}
</script>

Add an image to your page and give it an ID of photo-1
The code will play the audio in the html element with the ID of wav-1.
Add more lines as necessary for more images and wav files. See below.
<script>
window.onload = function () {
document.getElementById("photo-1").onclick = function(){
document.getElementById("wav-1").play();
}
document.getElementById("photo-2").onclick = function(){
document.getElementById("wav-2").play();
}
}
</script>

Wayan:

I want to thank you so much for doing all of that work. I am really amazed. I truly thank you for taking so much of your precious time and creative energy to give me options and assist me. You are very, very talented :cool::cool::cool:.

Just saw some of it before bed as I work late from home and am based on the East Coast and it is 6:30 am here and just going to bed. I will watch more of what you did when I get up and if it's ok, I will PM you a message here.

Thanks again, really,

Jim
