I have a site that has a lot of equipment manuals in pdf format. I have one manual that will not open - have redone it many times downloaded it from the manufacturer and it still will not open when I upload it to my site.

Pentair Bioshield UV System - under Sanitation systems

I have done this hundreds of times - I don't get it. Using Coffeecups FTP

Thanks for the thoughts in advance

Have tried renaming and saving to different places. It will open when I download to my computer but not when uploaded to the site

Thanks

We can't just guess here, you need to check:

1. if the file is in a folder called pdf (lowercase)
2. if the file name is spelled exactly the way the link says, with the dashes and the lower and upper case letters exactly like the link expects.
3. if it is the correct file, with the expected contents.
4. if the file was actually uploaded without problems. Check that the file size on the server matches the local file size.

I get this if it helps.

Yes, that helps the guessing game about the problem here.
I didn't get any message, just an open empty shell of a pdf reading document. But what Phil got could hint about my number 4 above being the culprit, or even a number 5: Check if the file has been correctly converted from whatever-it-was to pdf.

Is it the same as this one? Try downloading it again and rename it for testing

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Inger - all questions checked out ok

Eric - this is the correct pdf from the manufacturer. As you can see there are probably over 40 pdfs of this site alone. I'm completely stumped

Thanks

Try manually deleting it off the site and ftp it with a different program or cpanel file manager.

In the main menu of DirectFTP it might be worth trying Actions > Transfer Mode, and choosing Binary instead of Auto or ASCII. Not all PDF are encoded in the same way, and I'm wondering whether there is something unusual about this one.
