I think I've found a better way. I remove the space between the words, select the final letter of the first of the two words, and increase the letter spacing in the box just above the Finish button.

Thanks for the responses but I am a little confused with your answers. Pressing the space bar adds a space, I don't want to add a space, I want to add a Non breaking space. I am not really sure why I would add another character such a t when I want to add " " non breaking space.

Responsive Site Designer seems to be missing the ability to insert a Non Breaking space from what I can see.
Is there a way of doing it that I have missed?

It will be seen from the earlier posts in this thread that
(a) adding "&nbsp" is not at present possible in RSD, and
(b) I would very much like it to be possible.

I think that my work-around using the letter-spacing facility (not inserting any character) in my last post is the nearest one can get at present. At least it overcomes the underlining problem that afflicts the transparent character work-around.

If it helps to get this added
I can give additional examples of when a   is useful.

eg: a phone number (02) 1234 1234, you want the digits to stay together. (02) 1234 1234

It can also be handy to place a non breaking space on the last word of a paragraph or sentence to prevent words from becoming widowed or orphaned.

I might have to find some other software that incorporates what I am after.

Does the space bar not work for you?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

This is a site I built for my work.(RSD)

This is a site I built for use in my job.(HTML Editor)

This is my personal site used for testing and as an easy way to share photos.(RLM imported to RSD)

The second and third posts in this thread explored the use of the space bar. Hitting the space bar a second time does indeed create  , but in my experience it puts it adjacent to a breaking space, thus nullifying its effect. Within RSD I have not found any way of deleting just the breaking space.

I think the ideal solution in Edit Mode would be the ability to apply a no-wrap to selected text. This would give the ability to have the equivalent of
(a) a non-breaking space (or a series of non-breaking spaces, e.g. in a telephone number);
(b) a non-breaking hyphen (or indeed a non-breaking any character).

Pending implementation of something like the above, I think that my letter-spacing work-around (here) is the neatest solution, but not ideal.

Andrew's most recent post is useful in adding to the case I made on August 31 for a non-breaking space. My work-arounds were not of use to me for the examples I quoted (now at http://www.clparker.com/ft/ft20.html) as they would interfere with the Search facility on the Home page of the website, and with the software I was using to generate the Scripture index (also accessible through that Home page).

Is it possible yet to add a no break space in SD3? For example with the text "Apples & Oranges" when wrapping would like to control wrap so it is..
"Apples
& Oranges"

Instead of..
"Apples &
Oranges"

Or as in the phone number example above.

Maybe by pressing Shift+Space could insert it instead of normal space. Or a special symbol select/insert dialog. Is there any way for example to easily select and insert something like a copyright symbol into text?

From memory this became available some time ago as follows. One could just paste in (without the inverted commas) "&nbsp", and it worked. It even carried forward the numerous ones that I had used when I opened 2.5 web pages in V3. Something has happened however that seems to have caused that solution no longer to work, so that I cannot edit the bits of text mentioned in the previous sentence to insert extra non-breaking spaces.

Unless someone else can find a solution that they have proved works with the current build of SD V3, it seems that I will have to go back to using an increase in the Spacing of the last letter of the previous word instead of a non-breaking space.

Frank, I would raise this with the CC support. It has happened before that something has been 'fixed' in a new version. ;)

Thanks, Inger

I have now done so, and propose to advise the outcome here.
