My New Site

I've just launched a site remade using the Carrera theme. It's a Bootstrap theme so completely new to me but I think it turned out well. My biggest hurdle was using the Carousel component and I ended up using an old standby, WOW Slider, instead. https://www.thefarmlodge.com/index.html

I will go back and get Carousel figured out but not now. Thanks for all the help with this and other sites I've done. Kudos all around for excellent support.

When you say Wow Slider, is it this site; https://wowslider.com/ ?

Carolyn, do you think that site will have a lot of visitors using IE11?
I know that IE11 is not so much used any more, but there are still some.

I don't have time right now to investigate this, but I think this happens when subgrids with rows and columns (the layout classes) are used. It is the same on some more pages.

If it can be of some comfort: this is not something you have caused. It was in the theme. But if you could try using just ordinary flex instead, I think it would be better. As I said, I'm pressed for time now and cannot investigate further. Make a backup before you start experimenting.

This is a screenshot of rows-cols etc in ie11! in one I am doing never been a problem for me use them all there time\\

however the problem with the site in IE11` isn't the rows/cols etc they look fine, but its the text/paragraphs, Carolyn must have set the widths to % rather than px (or set max widths to PX

IE always thinks 100% means 100 % of the full width even if it is in a container that isn't

You are right, Wayan, I had just checked quickly and surely not thoroughly enough. But If you check the Carrera theme (and Krauss theme) in IE11, you will see the same thing, so it is not Carolyn's doing.

Well there you go another reason for not relying on themes or templates..

Actually they are bootstrap frameworks are they not? so I wouldn't even know however the other point is that shouldn't one as a developer be checking all or most all browsers (and that includes IE11) before publishing

Of the two I mentioned only Carrera is BS, the other one is Foundation.

well It doesn't matter really which framework
I don't use themes
the point though is in my opinion
1/ the onus is on the developer of the theme/template to ensure everything is hunky-dory with that theme/template before making it available, even if its a freeby and there should be some sort of documentation or warning (a bit like on ciggy packets) that the template/theme hasn't been checked and as in a previous situation, that it uses Grid for some of the components
2/ there is then a second responsibility with the person(s) using the theme/template to double-check everything is hunky-dory before publishing, especially so if it is for someone else.
