Multiple RSD projects for one website

So since I need more than just 75 pages for my website, I needed to split my website into 2 separate RSD projects. I want to export my project and put them onto my S-Drive to test out the pages and work out some problems, but before I do that I wanted to know what would be the best way. I am worried about my CSS files for my projects. My question is this: what is the best file structure for my exported projects so that everything functions properly? (I am sorry if this question doesn't make sense. Just let me know and I will try to explain better.) Thanks to anyone in advance for responding.

Should I merge my CSS files together?

I would hesitate to advise any particular course of action, as much would depend on the website content. I had to consider the matter for this website being developed, and decided to do it as follows.

1. I used an RSD file for the top-level items (the Home page, Author, Contact details etc.)
2. I used separate RSD files for the books, each of which was therefore in a separate folder. Even though they shared many common classes etc., I considered it safest not to try to merge CSS files. I found that otherwise I was too easily messing things up when some change was needed on a page in a book. I also want to keep the site editable in RSD.
3. The Scriptures index pages were prepared with an RFF file, which created a folder at the same level as the books.
4. The Search and References pages were just with HTML Editor, and in folders at the same level as the books.
5. The main reason for having structure as flat (i.e with as few folder/directory levels) as possible was that otherwise it was difficult to get Sitemapper to produce a sitemap that would quickly get to any page of any book.

Frank

PS. If I were starting the project now, I would have used RFF instead of RSD. The brilliant Symbols facility would have saved me a lot of time when I decided to make various changes in the header lines, and in the footer lines of book links.

At times I can be technically challenged on this but I have quite a few sites with more than 75 pages. I handle the subsites as a separate site placed in a folder. Navigation has to be kept up with but so far its worked fine.

I have been able to start a site in RLM - which will do more than 75 pages - and bring it in to RSD but that is more of a pain than keeping up with the navigation , which if you think and plan for it it isn't all that bad.

That's my 2 cents!

I agree, its difficult to overcome the page limits.. I have my site on hold ,pending an update to the RSD software. when I started ,I didnt realize the 75 page limit till I hit it.. i am anxiously awaiting a updated version of RSD that allows more pages..

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
