Hi all
I have recently launched my E-commerce website. Although it is running good and I have all types of online customers also. Some of my friends suggested to go with the responsive website designing services. Is there any use of making my website responsive or it is the wastage of time and money please suggest.

Thanks

Hey Antoine and congrats on your new site.

RWD (responsive web design) has moved from a nice thing to have to an absolute must have. In 2015, Google made a website's responsiveness a ranking factor (ie if a site isnt responsive, it will not rank as well as one that is) and have even gone as far as to exclude non-responsive sites from mobile searches. So from a technical/business persepective it is essential.

From a user perspective I, for a long time, felt that RWD was the 'emperors new clothes' and was not convinced that RWD was the way forward for all websites - many would benefit, but many would get no UX benefit whatsoever so it was very much a case by case scenario and the added cost needed to be accounted for (this development cost is now hugely diminished with the ease of use of software such as Responisve Site Designer )

However, when Google decided to make its changes it fully clother the emperor and whether you like it or not, these days all websites need to be responsive.

All the best

Have you checked the stats for mobile usage? If you're site isn't easily used on a phone or pad, you're missing sales.

Also, Google gives preference to mobile-friendly sites.

If you don't want a responsive site/shop, you should consider having 2 sites: your laptop/desktop version and a separate mobile site. I would think your ecommerce product would offer a responsive option, it's not like it's something new anymore.
