Hopefully someone can figure out why my uploaded images appear to be limited to a width of 200 pixels.

My new beta website is designed with RSD. The majority of the webpages contain images. The design format is three columns to a row, each column with a jpeg image. For some unexplained reason, the images do not fill up their respective columns when uploaded, but do so in RSD preview mode.

Presently, the majority of the images are a bit large to be on an efficient website and the plan is to eventually reduce the width of all images to 500 pixels. In the design pane, For each image in RSD, for Dimension, both width and height are set to None. For Position, both Float and Clear have an X next to them. Display is "Block" and "Position" is centered.

For each Column, Max-height is None. Min-height is 50 pixels. For column Position, Float is set at "Left" and Clear has an X next to it. Display is "Block" and "Position" is centered.

I am seeing the problem when viewing my webpages with a laptop set to 1280 X 768. I also see the problem when viewing on an IPAD2, but when viewed on an iPhone 6+, the images look correct.

You have a max width 200px set on the images in the class responsive-picture. Can you share your .rsd file? We can quickly point you to the proper location with that.

Part of my problem is that I may be misinterpreting the settings in the design pane.

For the picture dimensional settings, I assumed that by checking None that there was no max-width dimension and that the image would expand to the limit of the column which is 4 spans. If this isn't true, then I should not check None and should set the max-width to at least 600 pixels. Should I also uncheck max-height too and set my own limit?

I'm not sure that it makes sense for me upload the project file yet. It's 60 MB and requires Dropbox.

Have you tried setting your pictures to 100% width?

I read one of the Help articles last night about the Picture-Element and it confirmed that max-width should have None checked. It is supposed to allow the image to expand to the limit set by its column. I assume that min-width should also have None checked.

When max-width has None checked, it shows a grayed out value of 200 pixels. If you uncheck None and change the max-width to 600 and then recheck None, the grayed out value of max-width will return to 200 pixels as soon as you select another element and return.

I'm willing to try any new suggestions.

I think that Paintbrush's post immediately before Steve's post is a 'new suggestion'. I guess it appeared while Steve's last post was being typed.

Eric suggested that the .rsd file be provided, and I guess that providing that might help someone get to the root of the problem if Paintbrush's suggestion doesn't do the trick.

The file is 60 MB because it contains many large jpegs image files. All the bird species pages are formatted the same, but the one I mentioned originally is: redhead_duck.html

You can for positioning uses "containers" for your pictures.

In case I forgot to mention, the picture width is set to 100% for all images.

I'm sure that containers could be used to position images, but for now I'm trying to use the technique suggested by Adam using columns and also by the author of the Help article on the Picture-element.

When I export to a local hard drive from the RSD file provided, the very impressive photographs do fill the column widths except for the sensible 8px padding on each side of the columns in in which they are placed. It therefore seems to me that the problem mentioned in the first post in this thread has either been resolved, or is a problem in updating the website to reflect changes to the RSD file.
