Hyperlink "No Follow" - Page 1

Hi everyone,

To make navigation more accessible on a long page, I duplicated the left side menu bar a couple of times.
The page I refer to (until website is completed the temp) url is
http://www.meevis.com/hair/jewelry-maki … -list.html

Of concern is that this can be viewed as duplicate content in SEO. My idea was to make all the duplicated links “no follow” , that spiders / bots don't crawl the link .

Changing the Href in the Design Pane doesn't work.

I think (limited html knowledge) the Html Element would look like this
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.meevis.com/hair/">Home</a>

What is the best solution to get a “no follow” on a text link?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Anne

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hi Eric,

That was a quick response. Thanks.
Could you please clarify:
1) Can I use the “No Follow” instruction on a Text Link in the href?
If yes, then how?

2) If no, must I use the Html Element?
How to I style the Typography in Html Element?

Much appreciated.

Google has gotten smarter and will execute js on your page so you should be able to add the nofollow with js through a class. Otherwise add them after exporting your site.

Hi Eric,

Thanks ever so much.

I understand your suggested method of adding the “No Follow” coding to the exported file. I've tried it on a test page. Pffftttt...long whistle. I better get cracking then.

Thanks Wayanjaya. I'm planning on using CC Sitemapper. I will generate the Sitemap last. Must I make any update to the Sitemap after the code is generated?

Cheers

Hi from sunny Bali
Once you have generated the CC sitemap, you need check to make sure it has picked up the nofollow (no reason I can think of that it shouldn't. My suggestion was just to check (if there happened to be any existing sitemaps, but if you use Eric's method (which would be by far the easiest way depending on how many you need create, then there would be no reason to worry about checking any sitemap.

If you are making a sitemap for your visitors to follow you may need make some changes to the structure and layout of that such as remove/hide the duplicates, if it could cause some confusion for your visitors.

Just a thought why not make the content of the side column move as you move down the page, so it stays in view.rather than duplicating it

Actually what I meant to say was static so it looks like they move as you scroll down the content side

example:
balismartproperty.com/fixed-sidebar/index.html

(ps I haven't responsified it but that would be done as per usual way)
