Basically, you need
1 Sub-grid Row, with 1 subgrid column.
In the subgrid column are your 4 containers

with your content content

set the columns holding the subgrid to 12 spans at all breakpoints

flex as appropriate

What exactly do you mean by that? Three columns beside each other? Make them each 4 spans wide.
