How to change a child element to parent?

I'm trying to finish up the re-design for a website project. My main problem now is, sometimes I add an element--say, a container div--that I want to be a parent element. But--presumably because I drop it in the wrong spot--it ends up being a child of some other element instead. Is there any easy way to change it (the mistaken child element) to a parent element? I've tried working with the elements tree in v3.5, but so far have only succeeded in either making the element a child of some other element, or moving its position within the (erroneous) parent element (usually the latter)! I don't know if my drag-and-drop skills are just not up to par, or if there's some technique in the app I'm missing. Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

This is something I have been asking for a couple of times, but so far it hasn't been listened to, so it would be good if you could submit a ticket about it.
What I do, is moving the child up above the parent and drop it there. then it positions itself in the 'paren' level. Afterwards you need to rearrange the sequence again, and it is easier to move elements up rather than down.
Ha en riktig god dag!

I use the element tree. Make sure the new parent element has the arrow on the left pointing down showing it's open to receive new elements. Drag the element you want to move to the new parent and hold it so the little white line that is at the top of the element you are moving is in the middle of the new parent element name and let go.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I find that using 'Cut' and 'Paste' in the right-click drop-down menu in the Elements Tree can sometimes be useful for 'moving' items, especially when the move is a fair distance up or down the tree.

For precision pasting I think it would be helpful if the Elements Tree right-click Paste option were replaced by two options: 'Paste at same level' and 'Paste as child'.

I haven't yet found the context in which one can use the 'Select All' option in that right-click menu. If there is no such context in which it can be used, giving effect to the preceding paragraph need not extend the length of that menu.

As a footnote to my previous post, 'Select All' is not greyed out when used in the Elements Tree search bar, but I have not found what effect that option has. It is delightful that one can use that search bar even to identify which element contains a particular piece of text.
