file compression - Post ID 270646
I have just bought WebInsights (OSX) and run it and among other things it tells me I need to compress my files.
Looked in RSD but there does not seem to be a "compression" option on export.
Can someone please direct me to where this is compression is done.

RSD doesn't have any file compression. Since you are on OSX, you won't be able to use CoffeeCup's Website Insight. You can use an online service found here:
https://htmlcompressor.com/compressor/
There are also other online compressors out there.

Thx Inger.
It is a pretty awful solution as you have to drag & drop file by file.
Is there a plan to have an OS X version?
It really should be a checkbox on RSD export.
cheers peter

I don't know if there are such plans. But it has been asked for by several.

How big are your files? I don't have WebInsights. Make sure its not a "standard" recommendation given to any file not compressed. Is WebInsight flagging you perhaps because a image is too large for a mobile version? Use one of Google's webmaster tools to test the loading time of your website. If Google flags you than you should definitely examine your site for better efficiency, or if your mobile userbase is using large files over a 1-3G wireless phone network.
Peter, Just as we were discussing this, CC actually sent out a message that they have made a Mac version of Website Insight! If you act fast, you can get it for about half the normal price! Thought you might like to know.

Just tried the file compressor in WebInsights OSX and it looks like the CSS has gotten corrupted.
Anyone had problems with the file compressor and got fixes?
Cheers Pete

You can safely ignore that suggestion. The files in RSD are already compressed and there is no need to compress them either further.
