Greetings fellow forum members. I am in the middle of creating my index pg of my site make over. My VSD site of which I am making over with RSD is appx.. 22 pgs. I started with RLMP and imported into RSD and am about half way through the home pg re creation. My objective is to get it very close to the original site in appearance.
Can you get the favicon to display in a preview from a project that has not been published to the s-drive yet that is saved and previewed locally? This is the favicon code on my VSD site <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.gif" /> ,
What favicon code would I use on the RSD site and where would I put it on the source code of the index pg? On the VSD site it is in the stylesheet.
Do I have to wait until published to S-drive and then ask the admin to get it up for me? (the favicon?) I believe that that was how it was done on the VSD site more than 3 years ago and I have not published any other sites so it is not something that I do routinely.

Put the code in the head of your page in RSD then add the favicon to your resources.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Attached favicon screen shot. The locally stored RSD html file is previewing the favicon and the gif animation is running in the rendering.

Hi,
Neophyte user of RSD here and have finally struggled my way through to convert my VSD designed site to RSD. So far the results are pretty basic but meet my needs. Still getting used to responsive design and hope to improve on the results as I go.
The challenge of the day is the proper HTML to allow the FAVICON to display in all browsers within the browser tab and when saved as a favorite.

The HTML below displays properly in IE, Chrome, Android Tablet and Firefox but not in MS Edge. I have not yet checked Apple.

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.JDG-Associates.com/favicon.ico">

My website is http://www.jdg-associates.com/

Obviously I've done something right so far by creating the properly sized FAVICON using the service recommended by CoffeeCup as well as placing it in my root directory.

I've reviewed the MS forums but they will not admit to the issue. Other forums indicate this is a common issue. I've tried clearing cache, history etc. on my computer as suggested but am not getting it to pull through.

Am I stuck with this a quirk of Edge I have to tolerate or is there something else I should consider?

Thanks
JG

You just need to make a change to your markup. This is all you need.

Thank you. Unfortunately I got the same result. MS Edge still displays a generic icon while all other previously mentioned browsers show the favicon. Actually swapped my favicon for an alternative to make sure it wasn't my server causing the delay. The revised favicon displays properly for everything except Edge. Appreciate the suggestion.
