Does anyone know how the expanding tiled image transition is created as illustrated in the link above? The site was created by mister web guy, not sure if he is out of reach but I have not received a response so I figured I would try the question here.

Hi Tim,

I used a third party application to get that effect. But honestly I would not recommend that to you. You should try Responsive Content Slider. It produces a much better result and you can customize it way more.
