I was wondering if it is at all possible to create a custom 404 page. I read the article here http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/how-do-i-set-up-custom-error-pages/ but could not see these options. Thanks!

That is no problem. Just add create a new page in RSD. Whatever page name you give it in RSD, you use that in WAM.

Hi Damon,
This can be handled in a few ways but one is to add this line to you .htaccess page.
ErrorDocument 404 /404.html

This will redirect 404's to a page named 404.html
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

This is a site I built for my work.(RSD)

This is my personal site used for testing and as an easy way to share photos.(RLM imported to RSD)

So both of these methods use WAM, right?

WAM makes it easier, but you can always custom code your own .htaccess file.

Why could you not? How are you trying to do it? Remember we cannot see what you are doing on that side of the screen, so be very detailed so we can help. ;)

Hi Damon,

I created a custom 404 page http://jewelry-tutorials.com/404.html in RSD by duplicating one of my template pages, adding content and renaming it 404.html. The project was exported to the server. With Eric's solution the server directs to the custom 404 page. The .htaccess file is on the server under root directory. If not there, you have to create it.

Kind regards,
Anne

When I went into the option to upload files, the file was not there. Edit: After selecting all files, it gives the 500 error

Hi Damon,

I had the same 500 error, which was caused by a coding error I made, in the .htaccess file.

Cheers,
Anne
