This is a cool app by google for making a service area map (and other custom map stuff) I found the other day.
Here is an example:
https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi … 59&z=8
You sign into your google account and select the map icon at the top
On that map page from the menu select "your places"
From there select "MAPS" then "create map" from the bottom
From there you can create just about any custom map you can think of.

To get it into RSD save it and select "embed on my site" from that menu
Copy that iframe code, and open this link:
http://embedresponsively.com/
Paste that code in the "google maps" button section and use that generated code for your RSD site
In RSD make your row with the size of the map column you want.
From Elements drag an HTML element into that column
Double click on it and paste the iframe embed code into the HTML section.
Use "preview on" so it goes live in your browser and it will show your new map.

Gotta love Google.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yeah right? You can still do the google map api development with a key and all that but this sure simplifies making a quick one for your RSD site. The embed responsively site that Scott found is worthy of a bookmark too, helps a lot getting apps into RSD with the generated responsive code tweeks.

I wish you could add a political boundary like you can search in Google maps. For example, a county boundary.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
