Received today a CC email that the new SD-V4.0 is coming out in a few days just wondering IF it will be backwards compatibility with projects made using V3.5 ??? Cost shows $99 so just wondering if worth the new version.

One could safely assume that it would be backwards compatable whether it's worth the cost is to be seen depending on what's new. Hope you ok over there in NJ

Thanks Wayan that's my thinking also, will have to wait and see what extra it has and then if worth it for us.

I haven't got that mail yet, but I asked a couple of weeks ago, and was told there would be no disruptions.

For those who had purchased the previous version of SD. Do they they need to make an additional purchase to use the 'newer' product ?

yes this one is an UPGRADE not UPDATE therefore there is a price to pay

one can easily tell which is which from the version build number, so if they update SD V3,5 it will have a new build number,
(updates are free for 1 year apparently)
If they UPGRADE it will be a new version number (SD V4) etc etc

Since purchasing the responsive design pack last June. I've logged uncountable number of hours in SD. As something that has become a major part of my life. I'm not concerned, but more curious. I'm a slightly impulsive person when it comes to ' upgrading ' and or having the' bleed-edge version'. Is this is a yearly occurrence where the previous product that was maintained; Is then abandoned in favour of 'upgrade'?

I think it's great that they offer free updates for a year, but those of us who have had the previous version seem to be pigeon held into buying the entire product again. The responsive design pack is no slouch in price when on not sale. Seems questionable to buy anything if it's just going to be come obsolete.

I didn't use the version prior to 3.5, but those who had who's worth the extra money to 'upgrade'?
