Yes, that would be one way.

I would look around the web (google is good for this) and search for a player that actually has that capability already in it. There are a ton of different types of players out there, just find one that isn't "flash" and that has the ability you're looking for. I know there are some as I just went through a mess of searches of my own recently trying to find some decent music players for a client's site and came across a handful with the feature you need so search around and use one of those, easiest way to do it if you're not a programmer etc.
