Will Shopping Cart Designer Pro work...

Hi all. I have Shopping Cart Creator. I'm looking to do a site with an ecommerce portion. I want to be able to design the store with the customers images. Will Shopping Cart Designer Pro work with Shopping Cart Creator (not the Pro version) to allow me to do that?

Hi there Tim I have found this information right on the Coffeecup website. If you look at the detail description for SCDP it says the following:

Seamless Compatibility With Shopping Cart Creator
The built-in export tool saves your themes directly to Shopping Cart Creator with the click of a button — meaning they’ll appear right in the Themes window. From there, just select your theme the same way you would select one of the predefined themes, and your custom design will be applied directly to your store. We also added a feature to Shopping Cart Creator Basic and Pro that allows you to open a theme directly in Shopping Cart Designer Pro. This is a great option for making quick changes to your design.

Hope this helps

Yeah I think some of the confusion on this is that there used to be a Basic and Pro version of the Designer program, but the Basic program was discontinued since the Pro one takes care of both the Basic and Pro versions of the Cart Creator programs.

Tim, if you have any thoughts that you may be doing more shops in the future, I would highly suggest the Pro version of the Shopping Cart Creator as there are a whole lot more features in it for doing some pretty great shops. Just a thought, but they don't have an "upgrade" setup so if you buy the Basic, you can't get the Pro for an upgrade cost, they are totally separate entities so if you even suspect you can use the Pro version, it would be best to just dive right in and get that one instead of the Basic so you don't waste money and need to buy both in the end. Food for thought there. :)

Thanks Steve and Jo Ann-
Came back once and could not find this thread. Anyway I bought the Designer and have a shop online now but something isn't right. I'm getting error codes all over the pages.
Here's the link: http://www.shekinahapparel.com/shop/
I'm not sure if I put it in the wrong folder on the server? It's hosted on 1&1, the web site is fine.

Tim, check the write permissions on your folders. These are the results of the 'server' test...this is just a start, might not be the whole problem.

CoffeeCup Shopping Cart Server Validator for PRO version.

Server Configuration
Is this the correct url of this site: "www.shekinahapparel.com"? If not, there might be a problem connecting to payment gateways.
Web server software: Apache
PHP seems to be installed as CGI.
Guest operating system: Linux.
PHP Version
OK - installed version of PHP on this server is: 5.4.26
(hmmm, found REDIRECT_DOCUMENT_ROOT, ORIG_PATH_TRANSLATED; settings that on rare occasions were an indication of problems).
PHP Extensions
OK - found all PHP features needed to run the cart scripts.
Session Data
OK - successfully wrote and read session data.
Connectivity with PayPal
OK - successfully contacted the PayPal server.
Connectivity with Google Checkout
OK - successfully contacted the Google Checkout server.
Maximum Execution Time Allowed
OK - server allows scripts to run for 50000 seconds.
File Structure
OK - all directories are present and accessible, no empty files have been encountered.
Writable Directory Test
WARNING - Could not open './../store/test.tmp' for writing. Some Shopping Cart Creator Pro functionality (e.g. the stock control) and some payment gateways (all except PayPal and Google Checkout) depend on being able to store data on the server. You should not ignore this warning
Mail Configuration
OK - path to Sendmail is: /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
Finished testing.

Gunsmoke-
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using SCC and Designer Pro.
The url is correct. I'm not sure what the "write permissions" are, or where to find that.
Could the fact that I'm using copyrighted pictures affect anything?

Using copyrighted pictures shouldn't affect anything at all unless they are hosted on a different server that doesn't allow hotlinking. I'll assume not since you can't really do that unless you're putting links in the HTML tool and no photos in the program itself, which would be counterproductive :P

So, that answer would be no it doesn't matter.

Check your permissions of your folders, but have you also tried deleting the entire shop from the server and reuploading it?

Your write permissions are set on your server. You'd have to access your server with an FTP program to set them. Or get with your host, explain the problem, probably several times, and get them to set the write permissions.

Thanks Gunsmoke and Jo Ann-

I'll log into the server and see what I can do.

OK, 1&1 was able to change something and it's now live and looking like it should!
They said something about not compatible with PHP 5.4 or 5.5? I guess SCC is only 5.2

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
