Guys Guys Guys... (and any Girls)
You all seem to be moanain a lot about the Created by Coffee cup link at the bottom of the pages, and the fact that you cannot remove it.

Well i hate to say it but it is easy, just use your brain. All of the design styles and text can be changed, you just need to know and understand the very basics of style sheets and php scripts, go and get a book and read up on it. You do not need to become a guru like the guys as coffee cup, but please just learn the basics, and you will enjoy the software more.

I will be posting a new site up after xmas as i am to busy before, here you will see i have completely changed the header to allow larger graphics, all the fonts are different and in fact in different places, the background is a different colour, and the price tags have all been changed as well.

And last but not least i have changed the created by coffee cup link.

if you would like any help with anything, i can help you, but please you need to learn the basic first.

To all the guys / girls at coffee cup... keep up the good work.

Dan,
I think its condescending of you to address other members of this forum as if we're dummies. I can certainly remove the link myself as others in this forum can, but we should not have to go through that hassle as paying customers. Some of us are gurus and may prefer some level of automation from a product when available. It’s that simple, so use your brain and consider your audience before making remarks like that.

I think Dan's post was not meant to insult anyone, he was just trying to make a point that with a little research anything can be accomplished. Let's try and not let this topic turn into a flame war.

Scott,

You are right I did not intend to insult or upset anyone... And as you said, I was just pointing out that with research you can turn this excellent application into a great looking shop.

Over past few months I have looked at numerous other shopping carts and yes although they offer more they are very complicated and not easy to get a basic shop off the ground.

The Coffee Cup Cart has enabled me to get it off the ground and customise it the way i want it.

I like Scott dont want an argument, i did offer to help anyone with the customisation, and put them on the right path.

Happy Christmas

So if I customize something, does it get hosed each time I upload items to the store? I'm trying to decide how much patience I have. :)

Dan I think I might take you up on your offer. I see the .css file where I have this domain hosted (in the cpanel file manager thingie). But I started to try and read the darned file and my eyes got crossed. I have a banner I want to use at the top of all my pages, it's 760 x 115, .jpg. Where do I put that in the .css file? I realize I have to have a copy of it uploaded to the site in order for it to work.

And then how do I keep the change from being overwritten each time I update the cart? Do I futz with the .css file permissions? Or will that lock out the whole file?

If you want to take this offline, my direct e-mail is costaink@yahoo.com.

CoffeeCup does not support these custom changes, so yes, the program will hose your custom files if you use the program to make changes and save them.
I suggest making note (just a text file will do the trick) of the changes you make, save a copy of those changes and then just chop/cut/rebuild only where you need to. Once you do it a couple of times, it will get easier.

There is talk of a program from CoffeeCup in the future that will allow you to stialize the shopping cart and make these changes alot easier. No idea when that will/might be ready, but I'm sure it will be welcome. I have confidence that this "Shoppin Cart" will grow into a very nice program that we can all use with pride. :)

Hi J Costain,

Time is tight just before christmas, and i will post a more detailed reply after christmas. basically i created a banner in a graphics package, dreamweaver, then you need to create a slice of the far left hand part of the banner that is 128 x 128, export this slice and call it logo.jpg, you can then copy this file over the top of the one in ccdata\images. Then export the whole banner and call it header_bg.jpg and copy it to the images folder off of the root. then when you view your shop you will see the new banner.

my site will be up straight after christmas, with family and work commitments i just ran out of time before. if you need any more help please just ask.

hope this helps, you shouldnt have to mess around with the css for this bit.

Happy christmas.

no you will need to keep a backup of the files that you amend, then overwrite each time you re-upload.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
