Well, you still have some time left.... :P Every year, I resolve to have all things entered into the database as I go along...and every year, I do not....but I did file in early February...only to have one 1099 we had forgotten about saunter in toward the middle of February. So, I will be doing an amendment by the 15th. My tax program supposedly makes that pretty easy...

I'm in Missouri, and yes if you sell online to another MO resident you must charge them sales tax for a tangible product. I have installed SCC to a website whose products are based in MO. Their payments are integrated through PayPal.
The problem with SCC is, if you enter sales tax into your SCC configuration it charges every transaction for sales tax. If you don't set it up in SCC, and set it up in PayPal to charge tax for your particular state, PayPal does not add sales tax to the shopping cart creator check out. If you build your own store with PayPal shopping cart, then yes PayPal will add the state sales tax you designate.
The sales tax option needs to be added to the SCC software inorder for this software to be useful. As it stands right now, I'm going to have to delete the Coffee Cup SCC and manually create a shopping cart in PayPal inorder to comply with Missouri Sales Tax Laws.
I really like the ease of use of SCC, but it's not worth getting in trouble with the state over. Another thing, adding sales tax to all transactions and then refunding customers who are out of state is not only a waste of time, but it is also inaccurate when you consider the fees charged through PayPal transactions.

New Jersey works the same as PA - I need the taxes to be based on customer's shipping address (e.g., the State field). I can't collect tax on everybody - and I must collect tax on NJ residents.

So, anything new on the sales tax front? I'm in WV and charge 3% for food (including vitamins & supplements) and 6% for others stuff (e.g. books). Currently, my shopping cart calculates everything (for WV customers) at 6% and I just don't collect it (in person). So far all my online orders have been from other states. Is everyone working through this OK using SCC with Google and/or PayPal? (I don't own SCC, just thinking about buying it).

Thanks!
