Publish button vs. FTP upload. I want...

Okay, purchased Cart Creator and Designer the other day. Put together a pretty big site (had no idea the old one we had was this big). We put the entire thing together before publishing a single thing because we have a lot of customers going to the site for instructions and we didn't want to mess around with the site until the new shop was complete and ready to go.

--Before I say anything else, I must say this Cart Creator has been a massive improvement over our old site in so many ways visually and also the way it functions. We like what's it done for our site!

We went to upload it and THAT'S when the nightmare started. Couldn't use the Publish button because it kept timing out. Talked to the ISP tech support to see what they had to say and they said files over 25 megs, we'd need an FTP client. Thought that solved the problem. Downloaded Free FTP but couldn't get more than 1 upload at a time. :/

Tried two more FTP clients and one of them allowed us to get about 10 uploads going on at a time. Finally got the shop up and running.

This brings me to a question. How can I use the upload button now that I've exported the shop to use an FTP client and did it that way? Can I use the Publish button now?

Using the program is fine, easy to understand and navigate and all that. This uploading and publishing business is making my head hurt.

One of our computers runs XP and the other Vista.

Since the bulk of your files are now in place I would assume that you can perform all future updates with the Publish button. You can try it out by making a small change to one of your pages and seeing if the publish button updates the page for you.

yeah I would say it should work also since the majority of your site is now in place. Usually the only things changed when you publish are only the things that you have changed so it doesn't have to reupload the whole thing each time you publish. There will be times it will still upload a lot of things, but it should work just fine for the most part now. Please let us know if that's not the case though and gl on your new setup :)

Okay, we'll have to try some updates on the shop and see how it goes. Thanks for your replies, guys!
