Although I at first agreed with you when the SSD first came out Ford, I would have to disagree today. SCD Pro is so powerful that a person would most likely get lost between what is being done by the Designer part and what is being done by the Creator part. We already have a lot of people asking that very question about the difference between the 2 and I think it would be pretty catastrophic to be honest to have it all in one. I agree the price could have been cheaper, but... on the other hand....
Someone could really make a nice business out of creating Themes for SCC alone. Should a person become truly adept at that program, which would take a while for me to do lol, they could create a pretty nice business for themselves or at least make some pretty nice cash above and beyond what CC site offers for Themes and that really makes this program stand out on it's own. It's way more than just an Addon for SCC by far. And the fact that the cost is a 'one time cost for life' which I can't even get from my menu program designers which costs me like 50 bux a year to keep up to date. That's just for menus, doesn't count anything else for the site just a menu builder lol.
Soooooooo all in all it's really not as high a price in the end as it seems to be, break that down into how much other software costs ( much higher than CC), no yearly update expenses, support that goes beyond anything we've seen pretty much anywhere. If you bought this type of program elsewhere you'd most likely spend more, or even if it were less to start with you'd have yearly fees.
I just purchased Xara3d 6 last night to try to make a Logo, it was pretty cheap $29, but there's a $20 per year upgrade fee. In 1 1/2 years of updates I will have paid what I just paid a couple weeks ago for SCD Pro and never have to pay again. So 7 years from now I'm still getting updates, for SCD Pro free. Xara will cost me $150 by that time.
Just a thought on how this really isn't as bad as it seems, it's just high at the start and we're not used to seeing that type of price at CC for anything yet is all. The thing is, it's worth every penny of it and the amount of work they had to do to make this program is far above most anything they've done before I think, so yeah, it's all good
