Okay let me see if I get this straight..all the hype the last few months about CC Shopping Cart Designer being improved was exciting. Now I get an email that there's an "Add-On" called "Shopping Cart Designer"!? But now I have to shell out $39 for the standard version or $89 for the Pro??

I know you guys/girls have worked hard but to improve on a product with another product and charging separately (especially in this economy) makes my head swim.

Sorry CC, I won't be buying it. I don't agree with it.
But you do make awesome software so I'm not such a sourpuss after all.
Am I the only one missing the boat here??

You don't have to buy the Shopping Cart Designer. But it is worth considering. The Shopping Cart Creator has several built in themes. With SCD, you can edit those themes or create your own. The program works so well that I edited an existing theme to match my current website almost seamlessly in less than 15 minutes. I was thoroughly impressed. I had spent almost a week trying to edit the design just by changing the CSS.

Quite an improvement I'd say!

There are two programs that have very active discussions going on. Shopping Cart Creator and Shopping Cart Designer. If you really want to customize all aspects of your shop and create a theme that 100% matches your existing Website design, this program will allow you to do that. If you are happy with the collection of themes that come with Shopping Cart Creator, then for you there probably is no reason to purchase Shopping Cart Designer. It is a personal choice I guess.

Adding all the features of Shopping Cart Designer into Shopping Cart Creator really would not be an easy thing to do. If you install the trial version you will immediately see what I mean. It is probably one of the most robust and configurable programs that we have ever made.

So for a one-time fee of $49 you can have Shopping Cart Creator and make an unlimited number of shops and for a one-time fee of $39 you can fully customize your theme to match your existing Website. So for $88 you get one hell of a collection of software. At that price you are still far cheaper then the other shopping cart creator applications on the market.

Still cheaper than most of the other commercial shopping cart creator applications on the market.

The shopping cart creator represents very good value for money. The price for the pro version of the cart designer does seem sowewhat out of proportion, when compared to some of the other excellent software that Coffeecup sell. Visual Site Designer for example is a whole $40 less.

Coffeecup solutions still remain a far more cost effective solution than some of the other programs out there though and their customer support is excellent.

I'm a current Zen Cart user. I can say from experience that I spent weeks customizing the pages, modifying the cart and just generally learning the processes required to get the site fully operation and functioning in a way that worked for me. I think one of the biggest let-downs for me in the Zen Cart world was the support forum. I wont go into great detail. Let just say that for me the support "over there" was less than adequate.
Coming here has been a complete joy! The program itself is great and the support forums rock! Lots of good advice, answers from the the head honcho and a fairly relaxed and informative group of folks!
Thanks! :)

I'm "this close" to purchasing a commercial shopping cart solution for about $300 from Interspire. I've taken it for a spin and find it easy to set up and style. Not quite as easy as Coffee Cup's offering, though. I submitted a question about their product and have not yet received a response, which makes me wonder what support might be like. Coffee Cup's support has been outstanding. Scott even asked me to send him my shop files way after work hours one night when I was experiencing problems with SCC. I don't think I've encountered any other company that has offered such support.

Scott is the best! Cesar and Monica are wonderful as well. And I have not seen any other software with the amount of input and help from other users that you see here.

With Zen Cart I have a fully featured product that does everything you could ever realistically want in an ecommerce solution. However the developers over there tend to be very dictorial and don't actually listen to their customers. The product has evolved into a cumbersome, difficult to use product that takes a huge amount of time to configure. Quite often forum postings over there will be truncated, altered, or moved if someone tries to make a constructive comment, or suggestion. Zen Cart isn't alone though, most ecommerce solutions out there have little in the way of support, or customer input.

My own primary reason for buying cart creator, was the straight to payment processor setup. Even the most expensive of cart solutions don't give buyers the option of skipping all that tedious form filling, which is cited as the biggest reason for shopping cart abandonment. With cart creator, the customers can also shop in complete confidence as their data is only ever given to reputable payment processors, rather than an unknown site owner. The real bonus though, has been the level of customer support from the people at Coffeecup. They actually listen to their customers and go out of their way to sort out customer problems.

I made the bold decision to move completely away from Zen Cart and once the forthcoming pro version of cart creator has weight based shipping options that process will be complete. The inadequate shipping options and the lack of digital download functions are both things the team have listened to and are working to resolve. Once those are in place, Coffeecup's competitors will see their own sales drop. :)
