When looking at the shopping cart creater I saw a place to put the weight of the products. So I entered a weight for all the products on my site. Then I find out that the shopping cart creater doesn't ship weight bases. So thinking that since there is an option to add the weight for your products I figured it would just add the weights up. I set up my paypal account and entered the shipping cost per weight for every state. This take some time but appeared to be my only option at this point. Now that I have done that I find the weight section of the shopping cart creator don't do anything. WHY HAVE IT THERE? Does this mean I am supposed to purchase the Pro version? If that is the case then this isn't right. Maybe that part should be removed from the basic version. What am I supposed to do now?

Weight based shipping is actually a part of the Pro version, not the Basic one. You can compare the two versions here at http://www.coffeecup.com/shopping-cart#compare

So if this is a feature you need, then yes you need the Pro version. ;)

You'll also find that by doing what you did and setting up the weights in the Basic version, that they will carry over to the Pro version which was a really nice feature and a big help when many of us were still waiting for the Pro version to be released. This allowed us to go ahead and enter some of the data into the Basic version while we waited and saved us a lot of time later on data entry :)

The other perk of it is... That customers like me, who like to know as much about a particular product I'm considering a purchase of, will have that information available to them. Regardless of how it's used, I find that it is more beneficial to have it, than not. Of course, nothing says it has to be utilized.

I had looked at that information about the SCC Pro being weight based for shipping. However with the fact you could enter the weights would lead many to believe the weight would still be totaled for other uses. I may have been mistaken but one would assume that the term weight based shipping would only imply if you were using SCC to handle the shipping costs also. I just kind of sucks that after purchasing one piece of software and only a couple months later I now have to purchase another piece of software. This might be something to add to the info about the software on the description so others don't run into the same issues.

Hiya DJ,

I don't recall seeing anything anywhere in the description of the SCC Basic program saying that it does weight based shipping at all. Also, one of the best things about CC software is that it gives you a chance to evaluate their software for anywhere from 7 to 30 days so you can see what it can and cannot do before you purchase it. I would hope you had done that ahead of time before your purchase, but I'm guessing that you didn't?

Anyways, the programs are worth the price, and others cost a whole lot more than these do and don't include updates for life so it's a pretty good deal either way :)

So you can't evaluate the software for less than 7 days?
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

It is 7 usage days. So you can open it today and then not try it again for 3 more days. When you open it again, that is your 2nd day. We really give the customer a long time to evaluate the software. ;)

Me thinks Tom is trying to get hit by Jo Ann's frying pan again...

Saying, for instance, that he only wants to evaluate CC's software for 2 days (instead of 7). A response to her comment here:
