Hi all,
I have a client who wants me to change the word "category" in the shopping cart to "artists" as they are an art league. I asked tech support and they tell me I should edit the scc file or the css file for the "theme" we are using (florescent dusk default), however, do I open the scc file that houses the client's shopping cart information and if yes, what program will let me open it so I can edit the code? I tried winzip but it errored out. OR, should I open the actual theme file in coffee cup program file under themes which shows in properties as "Windows Script Component (.sct)" and if yes, what program should I open it in? THANKS!! I know changing the title is a snap, however, I have been trying to figure out how to open either file for HOURS now .... going brain dead quickly!! BTW, once I figure out how to open the correct file, (whichever one is the correct file) is there some trick to saving it properly so that it syncs with the client's information again? THANKS, Bonnie

I would of thought that Shopping Cart Designer would have been the place to modify the theme but I'm not sure if the present version can change the name on that particular button.
I'm sure someone else will know though.
I had a quick look in one of my projects and couldn't see the CSS file with the project files so its probably not easily accessible.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.
Hiya Bonnie,
I'm very suprised that support would tell you to alter any files at all as that usually ends up causing more problems in the end with overwriting. When you update your shop again (adding products, changing things etc.) and upload the changes, that usually overwrites any files that were previously added if it detects any changes. I am not 100% sure how that works with the CSS files, but I would think that if you ever rechoose your theme or choose a different one it will overwrite the CSS file you are making the changes in. That's my guess anyways.
The names of tabs and menu items are not editable in the Shopping Cart Designer, all changes like that need to be done in the Shopping Cart Creator itself, since you're changing exact particulars of the shop itself rather than a theme design look. Hope that makes sense, but basically the Designer changes how it "looks" only, and all the names and images are just for show so you can see how it will look, not what it will say.
If you do insist that you are wanting to change files, (being aware of the risk of losing your changes so always backup your code or at least a file with the instructions on how to change it again later if it does overwrite it) then you can always export your shop to your computer. Do the following:
Go to File > Export Shop for Uploading
Choose the theme you are wanting it to use (which ever one you're currently using)
Choose the file location you want to save it to (create a folder ahead of time for ease of use)
That will export all the files to the location you choose so you can peruse the files that way that are uploaded for the shop and find what you're looking for faster than downloading it all from the net after upload.
NOW to edit the names of your menu tabs:
1. Choose Pages button at the top of the program so it shows you the menu pages you see on your shop
2. On the right you'll see the list of your pages there. Choose the one you want to edit.
3. Click the pencil under that list that stands for editing.
4. Rename your menu page to whatever you like.
Wallah! New tab names
Enjoy!

Well blow me down...you can change them in creator. I had thought that you couldn't change the Home, Categories and View Cart Tab names in Creator...but you can.
Great to learn new things

Anybody know how to get rid of the little icons?

which little icons Eric?
Hi JoAnn,
THANKS! I did what you suggested and it did change the tabs at the bottom of the shopping cart page but not the major tabs at the top of the page :
(( I'm afraid those may have to be changed in the native file - ARGGGG! If anyone has a way to change those big tabs at the top of the shopping cart page, I'm eager to hear it. Tech support tells me it has to be changed in the css or html code which, I agree with everyone, is dangerous to fool with - at best because everytime you make changes to your shopping cart and re-load, you never know what is going to happen to those code changes.
In the meantime, I'm going to ask the cart to display the full detail of all the categories on the main page so at least, when people come to the cart, they aren't wondering where everything is. THANKS to everyone for your input!!! I love cofeecup software and I "get" that you can't expect to have complete control over every nuance in a packaged software, however, when a client asks for something like changing the name of a tab, it is, what it is :
) My job is to figure out how to make them happy :

The little icons that appear on the menu. Like a little house for home and such. When you change the color schemes for the theme your still stuck with the little icons, which are now discolored because I just changed the color of the whole cart. So, I want to be able to get rid of the little icons on the menu buttons.
Any ideas?

That sounds like a Designer issue, lemme fire it up and see where that would be, I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the area of the menu settings.
Yep if you fire up your Shopping Cart Designer Pro (not sure if basic has this feature as I use Pro version so check it if you don't and let me know). Click in your menu area on one of the buttons with the icons on it and then on the settings on the right scroll down and you'll see where there is a section for the icons called Item Icons. Hope that helps
