What is the url to your cart?

Are you 100% sure you did enter in all the correct PayPal API information? That specific error means one or more items are incorrect.

i'm getting an error from Paypal also. I'm on Hostgator and can't seem to figure out the problem. I've been talking to Paypal and they state that everything is O.K. on their end.

If you are positive that it is setup correctly, try going back into PayPal and deleting all the API data and start over from scratch (both areas). Take the new information and place it into our software and then try again.

We are pretty limitied on what we can do here as we get that error directly from PayPal. Hopefully this step will fix you up.

I've done all of that. I even deleted the old API in Paypal, created a new one, then added everything back into Shopping Cart. Pretty frustrating. I thought that it may have something to do with the Website Standards account so I went into my normal Paypal account and created the API there and gave permissions... put that into Shopping Cart and that didn't work either.

Hi Neil

I am not really sure what to say as that error is right from PayPal and not an internal error code used by our software. What specifically did PayPal tell you? Can you email me screen shots of both paypal api configurations so I can see the settings here. Send them to scott@coffeecup.com

I have the same problem. The only real difference is the error messages I get from PayPal have blank fields:

PayPal has returned an error!
Ack:
Correlation ID:
Version:

I tried deleting and re-requesting API credentials from PayPal. I deleted everything in that area in paypal and went through and re entered, granted permissions and then carefully cut and paste everything into the coffeecup software. I then republished my store, cleared all cookies etc and tried everything again and I get the same error.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right and it is getting really frustrating! Everything works fine until I click on the "checkout with paypal" button in my cart. At that point I go to the blank white error page with the paypal message.
Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong or what the issue could be?

I have a PayPal business account and I'm pretty confident I've entered everything correctly (I cut and pasted it all) and followed all other instructions correctly. I'm running the latest build of the shopping cart creator and my browser is IE7. I host with LunarPages.
For test purposes I've created a store with item prices of 0.00 and no shipping costs. I doubt that should cause any issues but thought maybe I should mention it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just uploaded my test cart to my Godaddy account which has v5.2.5 and it works fine, so I don't think that is the issue. I also took the API key from two separate test PayPal accounts I have and it worked. No security error.

I don't really have any suggestions right off hand. I will pass it along to our programmers and see if they have any ideas.

It looks like it may have something to do with a shopping cart/order total of $0.00 when you try to check out.

In my test cart if I select an option for shipping insurance (which adds a value to the cart so its not $0.00) and click on check out I get through. If I click to checkout at that point I'm taken to the paypal page. I can't go any further because it's giving me some message that I can't complete the transaction with this credit card and I need to add my bank account info etc. I'm assuming that has something to do with the fact that I created this account earlier today just to test a few transactions.

If I go back to my cart and deselect my shipping option, it makes my transaction total $0.00 and I again get the paypal error. It looks to me like in the rare instance you'd have someone checkout with paypal with an order total of $0.00 you'll get an error?

It seems pretty likely since proceeding to checkout with a cart value of $0.00 is pretty pointless with a few exceptions. I'm sure paypal probably has a $1.00 transaction minimum or something similar and I'm assuming that was my issue so it has something to actually do. I'm assuming this was my issue with the pay pal errors. This bug with paypal would cause some issues if you created a "free" item in your cart for which you didn't charge shipping. For example a free ebook or free product samples etc. If this is the only item the customer wants they won't be able to check out with a total order value of $0.00. You could simply point the customer to a link to download or have a link/form to allow them to email their request as an alternative etc but that's a pain too!

I know it's possible to check out with no total due on other eccomerce carts but those are much more complex and a lot more expensive.

I wasn't sure how to test a transaction. I thought i'd be smart and setup a test paypal account, and then create some "free" transactions in my store so I don't have to test with an actual transaction fee. Is there any easier way to test the cart? It seems like I remember paypal having some "sandbox" feature a long time ago that you could test third party integrations with.

Thanks for the reply!

That could be the issue, but how are you adding a 0.00 item to your cart? The software should prevent you from adding anything list the 1.00

Is everyone here on 3.0 Build 5?
