Hi Everyone,

I have just successfully installed google analytics into my shop, i am just waiting for the data to be collected.

Let me know if you are interested in how to do this and I will document and post how and where to do it.

Stats are a vital part of finding out how popular your site is.

Cheers

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your post. I made the changes described directly on the host server. I didn't see where you can make the change locally. I assumed that each time I refreshed my site (after making changes to my home page) that it would get overridden on the host. This is not the case. Does this sound right?

Hi Mark,

You are right in thinking that everytime you reload your site after making a change, that you will have to re-enter the analytic code at the bottom of the file.

I export my shop prior to uploading it, that way when i upload the site i know it is 100% looking right when it is live.

Would it be possible to perhaps have a .txt file that could be read and included in the code as it uploaded ?

A standard filename.txt that either contains google analytics code or is blank, that way we wouldn't have to edit after each shop update. Anyway just a thought.

Here an example of what Google Analytics shows as Content page views:
view item.php?groupid=12&productid=176

If I use site mapper here is the corresponding item:
http://myneatstuff.com/viewitem.php?gro … ductid=176

If I click on this the actually item page comes up with the title Older Turquoise and Sterling Silver Bracelet

Am I doing something wrong or is this work-around the only way to find out what items are viewed? Also, it would not help a potential buyer to navigate my site should I upload site mapper results.

Thanks
