I have an instance where my company is putting together coupons with a discount offer, but am wondering how I am going to handle this on my end of things.

I would like my customers to be directed to the store and when they enter the checkout process be able to enter a Promo Code that will trigger a specific discount.

Can I make this happen with CC program or do I need to approach it from another avenue? If so, does anyone have suggestions?

At this time we do not support coupon codes. It is something we are considering for a future update.

Different discounts for different amounts purchased or just one discount for everybody?

If you were to have one or two or even three discounts there are a couple of options that are available to you. But if you were looking to do a progressive discount that one I haven't figured out yet. This also depends on how many items you have listed as it does require some little bit of work on your part.

Lets say that you want to have 5, 10, and 15% off coupons.

You will need Password Wizard although I think Web Access Manager would also work for you.

Create a username of 5% off and a password to go with it then repeat for the other 2 discounts.

Here's the part you won't like....

You now have to have 4 versions of your store online.

1 The normal regular price store in directory \shop
2 The 5% off store in a new directory of say \5percent\shop
3 The 10% off store in \10percent\shop
4 The 15% off store and lastly \15percent\shop

Now you will have to edit all of your prices and upload another copy of the store to a new directory, repeat for 10% and again for 15%. If only certain items are available at the discounted price, BONUS, less work to do.

Now you create a page for them to land on with 2 options

1 Shop
2 Have a coupon?

Those that just want to shop are taken to the main store. Those that have a coupon choose option 2 and are asked for a username and password, you can change these to 'Promotion' and 'Coupon Code'. Depending on which of the 3 possible options they choose they are directed to the appropriate version of the store. When they are then taken to pay for their purchases they'll have the proper totals ported over with them to pay.

NOT an ideal solution I admit but it does get you what you want for now.

Once inventory control comes online this will no longer be an option unless you know you have enough inventory to cover any eventuality.

We really have not put much thought into it just yet. Probably the initial version would be just a flat discount when a certain code is entered.

At this time I only need just a flat discount because what we sell is limited and a single discount will cover it. Thank you, Bill Dutcher, I will see if what you provided can be made to work for the time being...

Scott, if you decide to work on something like this, it would be nice to be able to change the promo code to reflect different offerings throughout the year.
