Collecting Additional Information -...

Hi!

Thus far, I'm quite impressed w/ the Shopping Cart Creator but here is an enhancement that would be greatly appreciated:

My organisation sells tickets to our events such a dinner/dances. We need to collect additional information such as food allergies, seating requests, names of those in the party, etc. Having customers fill out a separate form after they have completed the PayPal/Google transaction produces mixed results. (Getting people to follow - much less read - the instructions is an uphill battle!)

I would like to suggest an option that would send the buyer to an intermediate page when they click the PayPal/Google button. This intermediate page would consist of an online form such as one created with CC Form Builder. Once the buyer completes the form & clicks the "Send My Message" button, they would automatically continue on to the PayPal/Google site.

If this approach is too difficult to integrate into the Shopping Cart Creator, an alternate suggestion would be an option that would send the buyer to the aforementioned form upon their return to the shop following completion of their PayPal/Google transaction. While the user would have to remember to click the return link on the PayPal/Google site, it is still better than nothing! ;)

I like the idea! No clue if CoffeeCup can/will do that.

In the meanwhile, I have a suggestion. Using CC Form Builder, why not have the client fill out the form first, and program the form to take them to the shopping cart? The form could include their name, email address, food allergies or preferences..whatever info you need. The form can be submitted and the submit button programmed to take them directly to your shop/store/ticket sales.
It might not be ideal, but if you make the access to the store be the form for information gathering, at least you would get the form email just before the sales info, right? Could be fairly easy to line up if the form info matches the purchase info...How many veggie plates needed..party name (make sure to match the name given when purchasing) ...bla bla bla...
Would it work? Maybe.

To answer your question again, Shopping Cart Creator doesn't accept any other information from the visitor. It takes the payment directly from PayPal or Google Checkout once the payment button is pressed. If you need to collect information, you can use our Web Form Builder to create your form, then direct the "Thank You Page" to your shop item's URL for payment processing. Download a trial of Web Form Builder from http://www.coffeecup.com/form-builder/ to test before making your decision.
