My shop is up and I love it love it loveit...did i mention i love it?

2 things

1 - Need to do a blanket discount on all items...is it possible? How?

2 - Customer notes in the shopping cart for special instructions...haven't seen a way to do that.

Thanks!

Hiya Bruce,

Right now the Basic version doesn't allow either of those things, and the Pro version won't have either of those things on it's initial release, but the rumors (pretty good ones I might add lol) are that both of those things may be included in a future update to the Pro version.

Right now the only way to do discounts are 1 of 2 ways for the most part:

1. Edit the discount price for each item (each item has a discount setting in it that you can set either a flat discount price or a percentage discount price. You would need to go to each product separately and alter this amount and setting.

2. If you want a discount to be permanent for certain people (such as family, friends, subscribers, etc.) you can put up a second store that you can use Web Access Manager for access to and assign people ID's and PW's to access it. Then make this second store have discounts on it (which you still have to set manually, but if it's permanent discounts you only need to do this once).

There isn't a real way to integrate any customer notes in the shopping cart at this time, but... using the Web Form Builder you can very easily add a block of code to your products that need special instructions to allow them to send them to you. Or you can create a landing page that people go to after their purchase (redirect page from PayPal's site after purchase which you setup in PayPal) which then has a form that they can fill out for their customization. Just add some text on the detail page of your product to explain to them that they will get to that form after purchase and maybe give a way to contact you on the page in case it fails to redirect etc. This should work pretty good actually until we get a way to do this within the program.

Hi Bruce. Looking at it from a customer's perspective, having a blanket discount on ALL your products gives the impression that all the original prices are just artificial to begin with?

A better proposition is to have time limited discounts (i.e. sale), discounts when the order value passes a certain amount, or a discount structure for returning customers via a voucher code. Whilst the initial version of the soon be to be released pro version is unlikely to have the discount facility attached, the discount module is something that is currently under development and will provide a comprehensive range of structuring discounts within a shop.

Whilst PayPal allows a short message to be attached to an order, I'm unsure whether all the new payment providers within the pro version will support that facility? At the moment neither the current version, or the new pro version have the capability to directly capture user text input as an integrated part of the software.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
