I was excited about the product options feature - until I had some friends try it out!!! It seems that it causes some confusion when there's anything other than just a final price that shows up in the shopping cart.
I know, anyone should be able to add the "option price" to the "base price" and figure it out, right? However, the "base price" is not called the "base price" in the header - it's called the "price", and it's apparently not editable. And then the "total price" for the item is called the "subtotal" in the header.
Minor points, but they caused confusion so consistently in the people I had try out the cart that I felt I had to dismantle the whole thing and add the different sizes as separate products. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel that ANYTHING that a customer doesn't easily understand will likely stop them in their tracks and prevent a sale.
I wish that such a potentially great feature couldn't be better executed - or at least editable.
There is always a base price for something you buy. If you buy a shirt, it maybe $9 but if you want an XL there will be an additional $2 surcharge. That makes the price then $11. You take the same logic really with anything you sell. Always start with a price and add the additional prices to it.
Seems logical to me.
