:D I'm so relieved to hear that we can add price options. It's a deal maker! I was completely dreading the thought of having to use another shopping cart maker, because I think this one is so great.

Any update on when the pro is coming? I'm ready to buy it!

If you think the current version is great, just wait till you see the pro version. :)

In theory the pro version should have been out in February. There have been many substantial improvements which has inevitably put the release date back though. Shouldn't be too long now before it's released. ;)

Hiya Melvin,

I'm hoping I'm understanding your question correctly, but here goes:

The price will be reflected in the cart as the whole price with the option price (being the difference between the base price and the option chosen price) will show up in the description, If I recall this correctly. I'll double check this, but I do believe your answer is yes.

Hi Melvin. The price will update in the cart for the chosen option, but will not auto update the price on the product page itself.

The price variants present themselves along the line of large (+1.00). extra large (+2.00) etc in the option boxes and the original price plus the variance for the option where applicable is ammended on the cart (basket) page. So an item costing $10, plus an extra option cost for large of $1 would show up as $11 on the cart page.

The price variants are completely user definable.

Is Multiple Copy Pricing supported in the Pro version? For example one item sells for $2 each for quantities between 1-4 but if you purchase 5 or more items you get charged $1.75 each.

Sorry that is not a feature in the software at this time.

How do we enter a negative number, or price reducing, price option?

For example: I have a book. The paper version is the 'product' listed. The options are Paper Book, obviously. It is the most expensive, say $19.95. I also have it available on CD for $10.95, and as a download for $5.95. I'd like to be able to show the book, and the paper price, then let folks select the cheaper options from the dropdown list if they want to. I haven't figured out how to deduct product cost in the options box yet, just raise the prices. I don't want to show the lowest price in the main copy, and have people select to upgrade to higher prices, because that smacks of 'bait and switch' which I won't do.

Help!

You cannot do a negative option. You would set your base price of the book to your cheapest amount, say $5.95 and then you would add two additional options, one for CD and charge $10 for that and another for most expensive and charge $14 for that.

The base price is always added to the optional price.

Thanks, Scott

Maybe a 'negative option' might be a suggestion for future consideration. For now, I'll just keep listing all three options as individual products - and cross link them back and forth in the copy. It works fine.

Never give up!

I was excited about the product options feature - until I had some friends try it out!!! It seems that it causes some confusion when there's anything other than just a final price that shows up in the shopping cart.

I know, anyone should be able to add the "option price" to the "base price" and figure it out, right? However, the "base price" is not called the "base price" in the header - it's called the "price", and it's apparently not editable. And then the "total price" for the item is called the "subtotal" in the header.

Minor points, but they caused confusion so consistently in the people I had try out the cart that I felt I had to dismantle the whole thing and add the different sizes as separate products. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel that ANYTHING that a customer doesn't easily understand will likely stop them in their tracks and prevent a sale.

I wish that such a potentially great feature couldn't be better executed - or at least editable.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
