Strict Standards: Only variables...

we have uploaded a shopping site and on one of the drop down menu's we have an error message "Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in /home/ceilings/public_html/ccdata/data/index.inc.php on line 260" can anybody tell me what this means and how to repair the problem . ThankYou
