Special Offer possible? - Post ID 179873

I have one item offered at a special price that includes shipping/taxes. Is it possible to set things up somehow so shipping and taxes can't be applied to this? Right now, I just have text next to the item to instruct buyers to skip the select shipping method/destination and go straight to check out. But if someone wanted to get the special offer as well as a regular priced item, they would have to choose the shipping method/destination, and it would get applied to everything.
Is there any way to do this (besides adding another store for just this one item :P)?

Could you have another product in the same category and set the price to 0 then apply a discount to offset shipping of that product. You'll get neg value waring from SCCP but it should work.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Not sure I get what you're suggesting?

I wondered if it might be possible to put a PayPal Buy Now button on the cart page close to the item so it would bypass the check-out page and go straight to the PayPal site.

I wish i could remember the thread, may be in tips and tricks, you can create a minus (-) value in the drop down options.

BUT i like the idea of a one product shop/shopping cart  :P

That was going to be my next recommendation.;)
As far as minus in the options that also possible applying a discount.

Viv - I might just do it! Seems 4 products in one cart might be a few too many
I don't know about applying discounts - will have to have another read through the manual. But I don't know how that would work either, since the amount of the discount would have to change depending on the destination and if their was state tax or not.

I'm considering giving the Special Offer its own page in the cart (with a PayPal button), so it wouldn't be in the Products but on an additional page.

Why not have a new category for special offers

Then put the one product in that category, with an explanation as to the actual offer, and leave the postage as default set in the cart

;) 1 website 2 categories 3 postage options 4 products easy as 123 & 4 ;)

Discounts NOT IN MANUAL, but theres a thread about it 5 hours of hunting for that, whats 6 ?

But what happens when it gets added to the cart? If someone doesn't read my notice, they'll check a shipping method/destination and it will get added on to the price. If someone clicks on Illinois, it will also add the state tax.

How does anyone ever set up a shop for hundreds of items??? I can't even manage 4 :o :P

A little off topic, but with Sitemapper... Can it be set to map the site and the shop together?
Thought I'd play with something else for awhile :P
