Has anyone had any issues with SCCP taking a long time to publish once product numbers gets into the hundreds?
I was speaking to an ex SCCP user today who said she switched to another cart because publishing was taking a painfully long time - once her number of products got into the hundreds?
Be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem?

Regards

Hiya Pete,

Yes the cart will take just a bit longer, but it will only do that for the initial load of those products. If you do them a bit at a time you shouldn't see a really large amount of time to upload. If you add a ton of products and then do upload yes it will take a while, but keep in mind that it's uploading multiple images for each product etc so it takes a bit to do all that too.

Once you're doing a few at a time as updates it will not be long uploads at all, usually less than a couple minutes.

Thanks Jo Ann for the info. I just came over to see if anything changed and your explanation helps much. I had to replace a hard drive so, though a client's store is up, new install of CoffeeCup is see it as a whole new publish instead of just updates. I'm into 5 hours and it's not even half way through publishing - and there are only 91 products. I will let it continue on, thanks again!

With only 91 Products I wouldn't expect more than a half hour, definitely not anywhere near 5 Hours.

I would suggest this:

Create a test directory on the site you're uploading to. Change the upload location in the program to that test directory and then try uploading it to there and see if it goes faster. Could be it's getting hung up on something that it changed when you reinstalled it. Shouldn't, but it's possible.

IF that works much faster that way, AND be sure the shop looks right after it's done uploading to the test directory, then delete the current shop and reupload it from scratch.

I don't believe it should be seeing it as a new shop at all if you're uploading to the same store that was there before so sounds like a bad upload setup to me.

Yeah, I'm getting really confused here. I started about noon yesterday - it's 10:34 a.m. and STILL publishing. At this point I surely hate to stop it and re-start it, what if it takes that long again YIKES.

I used the file I have always used.
I'm uploading to the same place on the server - so the whole thing is already on the server, no changes.
I've looked through SmartFTP and not seeing duplicates
The site doesn't seem to have any changes on it in the products so far.

The progress bar looks like it is about 3/4's completed so far. You think I should stop it still?

Yes you should stop it, there's no way it should take more than 30 minutes, heck it shouldn't even take more than 15 minutes for a full shop. There's something wrong with your upload and you may need to delete the files on the server and redo it from scratch at this point as it may have corrupted something by now.

First try stopping it, shut down the program and restart it and open your shop. Now try uploading it again, only wait for about 10 minutes don't wait any longer than that. If it hasn't finished by then there is something wrong. As I said you may need to delete the shop online and reupload it fully to be sure it's all there correctly.

Well gee, I don't know what's wrong, it's just not working. I can't take her folder down because she has an ad going until the 28th. I did direct it to a new folder and same thing. I don't understand at all. Two days and I'm tired, time to walk away for a while.

I think you should open a support ticket Volfan so the CC team can help you better. They are able to give a bit more assistance than we can, and most likely you'll need to send them your files so they can check it out too. I would definitely suggest doing that so you can get to the bottom of this as something is definitely not right there.

Thanks so much Jo Ann :) I didn't touch it yesterday. You're right about support ticket - I'll holler at them today or tomorrow and see how it goes. I think you're also right about something not being right! :)
