Sitemapper - Best way to add? - Page...

I'm putting this here instead of the Sitemapper forum, as SCC pages work differently than many of the other programs. :)

I wondered how SCC and Pro users have added sitemapper into their sites. If you have it added and want to share, please do so.

Otherwise, what is the best way to go around this if I want the same look as the rest of my site?

I've run out of pages, except the one page that I can add - which will add another link into my nav bar. My nav bar is set out how I want it now, and adding another link will push the search bar out. I know I can decrease the padding to make it fit, but this will also decrease the width of my dropdowns, which I don't want to do. :/

So suggestions please, and thank you in advance. :)

PS. Paintbrush wants to know too, so you all have to help. :D

How about hard coding on your shop page a link to the site map that's on it's own html page. You could use some code to force the link's position where you like if needed.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Could you add a link in the footer without changing the top navigation?

I don't put sitemap into VSD or SCC as such, i just upload to server with free ftp (no link)

I usually add a folder called sitemap1, and then register it with google in my webmasters tools as sitemap1/sitemap.xml

In my yahoo control panel i list it as a feed

going by the fact that usually on every site i have set up this way, my ranking increases dramatically about 10 days later, i guess it works.

But as per all my novice methods, its probably totally the wrong way of doing it

Thanks everyone.

Rolly, I downloaded the free HTML editor, but I just got stuck at adding my logo & some links, so I don't think I can hard code this. Not without learning some more, and I wanna get this up sooner rather than later. :)

paintbrush, yes I can add a link to the footer, but I'm confused on how to create the sitemap in a page that is consistent with the rest of my site. :D

Viv, I found your sitemap, and that's exactly how mine is when I preview - except mine still has the trial bits as I haven't uninstalled & reinstalled the full version.

I had a thought. I have 2 programs (like VSD), that I've had since before buying SCCPro, so I started today on a page, and I have it nearly like the rest of my site (apart from the fluid header/footer), but the background, logos, and mockup nav bar with links are all there. I previewed my sitemap and copied the code, then added the html into the page and it worked fine. All the links worked, but is this going to break the sitemap? Should I still upload from the sitemap first, then put it in the way I tried out today, or some other way? I'm guessing if I don't upload via sitemapper, I won't get the .xml file uploaded, losing the benefits.

Bit lost. :|

Try messing around with this.
[[[<style type="text/css">
<!--div#sitemap{width:920px;height:10px;left:-20px;top:-185px;position:relative;} --> </style>
<div id="sitemap"><a href="http://mysitemap.html" target="_blank" title="Site Map">Site Map</a></div>]]]
With this code you can force the position of the site map link to any place on the page. Adjust the left and top until it's where you like it. With the numbers I already have in there I was able to make it look like it was part of my nav bar.

Thanks Rolly, but which page are you saying to put this code on?

The one I'm making up in another program, or on a page within SCCPro?

I haven't uploaded my sitemap yet either.

You can place the code in your SCCP pages or to the SCCP footer. If you place it in your footer you'll only have to do it once for it to show on all your pages.

Thanks Rolly. :)

So you're saying, upload the sitemap, paste the code (I think I'd go footer) with my sitemap link (html link), and it will produce another page similar to my SCC Pro pages? Or it's just adding the sitemap link to the sitemap within SCCPro?

Just to confirm what I'm having a problem with, is trying to build another page to place the sitemap. I'd like to build one that looks as similar as my current cart. I'm pretty confident with placing external links (although not into nav bars). ;)
