I might be way off but I am new to the shopping cart creator. On the shop home page I am trying to create a summary of departments if you like. so for example tops trouser and shoes. Each of these has a picture that you can click on that takes you to the sub products. Is this possible in shopping cart creator or do I have to create a home page in normal html. Happy to do that just trying to save time for getting something on line quick for someone.

In SCCP click on "Your Shop" at the top. Now click on the "Pages" tab. In the "Shop Home" pane tick the "Show list of categories" then check the "Show category name". Now enter a description text for each category on the details tab. This is where you can add a photo also. This should get you what you want.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Ok have done that but I have multiple categories for example shoes & tops. It only seems to display the last category on the page or is this due to the theme I am using ? I am using the free one Blank - Navigation on the left.

It seems I cannot upload images to show you but in preview all looks fine however once uploaded it only shows the last category for some odd reason

I am having the same problem.
I wish to display the category and sub category within the Shop Home page. I have gone through the process as follows,
your shop button>>pages tab>>under Shop Home, select radio button show list of categories, check Show Category name & Show subcategories.
I have two main category and some Sub Category.
1)Plush
2)Stationary
2.1)Notebook
2.2)Pencils
etc etc.
When I preview it, it looks fine. (I have attached a jpg of the preview below).

However when I publish, it only shows the plush category. My website is as follows ilovekunairo.com/Shop.
Hope you can help me with this problem.

Have a look at my delorean site in signature :: shop home is renamed information
Shop home settings are to only show highlighted products
